L.A. does it again (home depot)
http://www.knbc.com/news/17183208/detail.html
Quick summary of the story.
In L.A. the sanctuary city of all sanctuary cities. Businesses must provide shelter and restrooms for the illegal day laborers that stand in front of the home depot.
Forget enforcing anti loitering laws let's make new laws saying a business must foot the bill for illegal aliens support and restrooms.
Considering places like home depot have their own contractors for things it's seems the city council is making home depot subsizide their competition.
So we got
1) Anti loitering laws no longer exist.
2) Let's build shelters for prostitutes and drug dealers I like their loitering better than people begging me for money.
3) Businesses can no longer decide who's allowed on their property.
4) Taxpayers end up footing the bill in the end after Home depot raises their prices on goods to pay for shelters for illegal aliens.
Nevermind I don't even feel like talking about it. This is the most retarded thing I ever heard of.

I've never understood why anyone who is pro-immigration would ever allow laws like this to pass. Seems like shooting yourself in the foot.

One more thing to laugh about when I celebrate my 16th year out of California. The petri dish of entrenched leftism isn't looking too good. Sadly, they bring down the entire country.

For some reason, I bothered to read your link. So here's some stuff you left out:
-Of course, the law says nothing whatsoever about illegal aliens; rather, the law is addressed to "day laborers." Basically, stores that have 100,000 square feet or more, must have shelters with drinking water, bathrooms, tables, seating and trashcans.
-Home Depot did not oppose the law
-One reason for the law was residents' complaints that the day laborers were urinating on their lawns, (as well as engaging in other "unseemly behavior"), suggesting that the residents might have favored the law too.
-Nothing in this ordinance does anything to detract from anti-loitering laws.

1) This law will apply to all businesses at some point. Which is the bad part
Home depot does not mind helping to break the anti loitering law because most of the time the day laborers when hired buy a lot of their supplies at the Depot.
(I guess there is nothing wrong with breaking the law when it suits you.)
Forget the trash and urine right ??????
2) Day Laborers = Illegal (for the most part) If you disagree then you don't live in California.
It DOES DETRACT from anti-loitering laws when applied to any business but home depot (which encourages illegal's I assume)
My daughter cannot ride her bike to the gym because she will get attacked by the familys of illegals living under a tree down the road. Since california is a sanctuary state calling the cops has gotten me nowhere.

Re: L.A. does it again (home depot)
Does this merely come down to whether you think that day laborers are all, or primarily, illegal aliens? I don't live in California so have no opinion whether the day laborers are mostly illegal.
Assume for a second that many are legal. Doesn't it then make sense to provide them with a place to use a bathroom, not just for their own sake but for the sake of the community?
Even if day laborers = illegal aliens, I could see the argument why this local law would be a decent policy, given the absence of strict enforcement against the use of illegal aliens, which may require a federal response to be effective. Perhaps these shelters will make the area safer in general?
I agree, though, with the general proposition that it is bad to do anything to encourage hiring illegal aliens.

Re: L.A. does it again (home depot)
I don't understand. I am as Pro-Immigration as they come, but how in the world can they force Home Depot to build anything, just because some people have decided to mass up on their property to try and get jobs NOT through Home Depot. This makes ZERO sense.

Sure, put one up. Don't however, force others to.
