I always figured that with MD's just getting into an accredited school means you're getting a good job. That is certainly not the case with the law, which in my experience is the pinnacle of prestige whoreism. I have friends who unfortunately went in blind and decided to attend tier 4 schools who are lamenting that decision today. They're over $150k in debt and have virtually no job prospects, despite having done well throughout law school and passed the bar exam.
gmat doesn't seem to have quite the same impact. it's more like once u get past a certain score, then u are considered for admissions. avg gmat scores from hbs and like #10 or #15 aren't that much diff it's just that hbs guys got 3.7+ gpa and work at goldman, bain etc but just acing the test by itself won't get you in anywhere inside top 20 prob. and being a chick helps.

Re: June life thread

weather.com continues to troll me

Not the first time I've seen them downgrade 100% chance of rain to less than 100%. Today it downgraded 100% to 55%. One hundred percent, how the **** does it work?

Weather.com always seems to get it wrong, at least in Houston.

Re: June life thread

so I did not get that Smith & Wesson job I applied for

BUT

on the plus side I found out today that the account I work on at my job is giving us another site starting August 1st. I'm very excited about that.

Basically I work for a purchasing company, one of the accounts is this big mining corporation. We've been buying industrial goods for one of their sites (huge copper mine) and I guess they've liked what we've achieved there so much that they decided to give us a second mine to buy for (huge borate mine). I've been the lead buyer on the copper mine so I'm hoping the new one will be something I'm responsible for too, if it isn't I'll be pretty disappointed tbh.
