So it creates fat out of thin air? Or you need to feed the fat cells fat to eventually get fat?

What happens to the fat your body ingests?
Um, it gets burned for energy?

Your body turns all unused energy from carbs, protein, and fat into fat for storage. The source of the calories is pretty irrelevant.

You wanna diet that'll work? I'll give you one.

Stop eating more than one plate a sitting.
Stop eating fast food. If you do have to eat fast food, buy something small.
Do NOT drink any soda EVER AGAIN. Drink water, water, and more water.
Do NOT eat cookies, brownies, chocolates, cakes, cup cakes, or anything sweet.

Finally.... Get your ass off a chair and do something that will make you sweat. At least 1 hour of exercise a day. 2-3 days a week minimum.

I guarantee you that you will lose weight if you follow the plan above. It's not ****ing rocket science. You don't have to stop eating carbs or only focus on proteins or all that other bull****. Just stop eating so much.

If you need a snack in case you get the munchies. Fruit is always a healthy tasty alternative that can be eaten whenever and granola bars are good too.

I've lost 20 pounds in the last couple months. Granted, I've been rowing a single 2x-3x a week too. But if you don't do exercise, good ****ing luck.

i may be wrong but the paleos would say eating fruit and granola at the same time is about the worst thing you can do.

i agree in general with 13th - exercise and stop eating so much fatty.

actually following through is the hard part. the **** has time to exercise :/

I lost 25 pounds with no exercise on BDDVO's diet, and would've lost much more if I didn't drink too much beer. Would've lost MUCH more if I exercised at all. I undertook the diet as a skeptic, but there's definitely something to it.

BDDVO runs marathons and had some extra weight hanging around. I'm curious to see whether he shrinks away to nothing after 2 months of Paleo. I'm also curious to see if this low carb thing is going to work for serious runners. My understanding is serious athletics and very low carb diets don't always mix well.

meh, I have an open mind. My questions were serious fwiw, I don't really know much about how our bodies store food or whatever.

One thing I'd keep in mind is that a "diet" is never gonna make you healthy. Being healthy is a lifestyle. I think you talked about running a marathon somewhere ITT? Are you really gonna eat hamburger and bacon and eggs and cheese leading up to the marathon?

I couldn't imagine riding my bike 50 miles on a hot summer day or something (and feeling good, and enjoying it) on a primal breakfast. So it just seems kind of obvious to me that "carbs are bad, load up on fats" doesn't really fit into a healthy lifestyle. I can't be active and feel like a champ when I eat that stuff.

(As a blueprint away from processed foods and McDonald's, sure, it's an upgrade.)

I'd weigh about 1300 pounds if the paleos knew what they were talking about.

I've lost 20 pounds so far this year just by counting calories. My goal is to lose 20 more by the end of the year but I did very little working out. I've added it in recently so we'll see if the results come faster.

Not eating bread/pasta/pizza is the worst thing ever.

I do but it's going to be a struggle to offset all the steaks I'll be eating.

Weather.com says 10% chance of rain. My window says 100% chance of rain, lightning, and thunder.
