Newly discovered (for me), Pixies at Glastonbuy in 1989. The video isn't great but the audio is top notch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cteyc_NNMRc

Controversial drunk opinion: the Pixies are not an underrated band. Everyone knows they're great. Bauhaus is an underrated band because they were pretty damn unique and did not influence many other artists. How do you emulate Bauhaus without being essentially a Bauhaus cover band? They are like the termination of an evolutionary branch.

I'm not really familiar with Bauhaus, will have to check them out.

Pixies are obviously legends.

I never saw him Live - I'm not old enough to have caught him in his heyday - but I was dragged along reluctantly once to see a Bowie tribute band by a friend who has seen Bowie and reckoned were better than the real thing. Although covers bands aren't my thing, they were brilliant at it and do note-perfect, tone-perfect covers.

"Absolutely wicked. As one who was there, watching AB put me back there again. For anyone who missed it or fans who want to relive it I definitely recommend it. As close to the real thing that you'll get. Enjoy." Woody Woodmansey (Bowie's Spiders From Mars drummer).

Tons of goth bands list bauhaus as a major influence

Yeah, you can trace the entire vast goth ecosystem back to Bauhaus and a couple other bands. But to back up simplicitus a bit, you can also go full circle and end up with shameless mimicry:

That's the case with most genres.

The Cure's lightly psychedelic-flavoured goth predates Bauhaus, but really the prime movers towards a bleak somewhat nihilist sound and look were Warsaw who became Joy Division, and the Banshees.

Bauhaus wasn't even the best iteration of themselves anyway imo.

Tones on Tail > early Love & Rockets > Bauhaus > late Love & Rockets

I saw love and rockets was mostly bauhaus members, and I remember liking a song of theirs in maybe the mid nineties, but I don't remember what it was :-/

For fans of Politics / Wrestling crossovers, then a proponent of the art of the squared circle just became president of Mongolia:

Quote:
Battulga rose to fame as a Mongolian wrestler. His businesses include a hotel, a Genghis Khan-themed amusement park, and food companies for baked goods and meats.
Depending on what you read he sounds either like a Trump-ish populist or a genuine exponent of socialism. I don't know anything about Mongolian politics, though.

Also, it sadly seems he was more into boring wrestling like at the Olympics, rather than the heroes of the more popular variety.

Probably So Alive. It's a later track that was their biggest hit, full on slickly produced MTV pop. Their first two albums are better, but Tones on Tail was still the best iteration. It's 1/2 of Bauhaus + one of their roadies.

So Alive was the first song I listened to when I recalled the band name. It's not So Alive.

No New Tale to Tell?

Those are pretty much the only 2 Love & Rockets songs that ever filtered up into the mainstream.

Nah. I think it either had to be off Hot Trip to Heaven or Sweet F.A., given the time range I'm thinking off. I'll give both a listen and see what I can figure out.

Edit

I think it might have been this actually

I don't know what kind of facility this is, but they could keep a tighter leash on their visitors. Or else somebody can follow after him with some solvent and a kimwipe (for the hardware, not the women). Meh, kissing VIP ass is industry standard.

just fyi, i knew this. I read a lot of stuff from the alt right and the left. I started reading alt right stuff basically to understand Trumps candidacy and due to its intertwine-ishness with lgbt issues that matter to me. Ive always been into free flow of information and find this stuff fascinating. Having said that the alt right isn't always correct in making decisions to further their racist agenda. I do not think being pro -poland is in anyway shape or form similar to white nationalism and infact in my opinion the opposite is true. I think 30 years from now poland will be the most powerful country in europe and they will be a big ally against americas enemies.
