Zero political content. I'm looking for the collective wisdom of my fellow Politards here.

Last month, Me & Sabo were in a car wreck. I just got the police report, and talked to my insurance company.

We were on the freeway going the limit, 70 mph. The CHP says it was caused by a hit-n-run driver, who rear ended the Chevy Blazer behind me, causing it to lose control. The Blazer crashed into and destroyed my front passenger side door... right where Sabo was sitting. Luckily, there were no injuries.

I only have liability and uninsured driver coverage on the car I was driving. My insurance company is saying that since the driver at fault is a hit-and-run, they aren't going to pay out on the uninsured coverage. They also gave me the advice that it would be a waste of my time filing a claim with the Blazer owner's insurance, as his insurance company won't pay out as he wasn't named as the cause on the police report.

So... short of suing the owner of the Blazer, which, although I feel he was at least partially to blame, I have no way of proving such -or- filing what I've been advised is a frivolous insurance claim...

I'm just SOL here and now just got me a wrecked car ??

Sounds really dicey from your insurance company. I don't know much about car crash law, and it varies by state, but I would definitely consult with a lawyer. I'd think that you could get a free consult and maybe contingency representation to go after your insurance co. and could maybe sue the Blazer's driver.

I'd definitely read your policy, as the claim that they are not liable because the driver hasn't been identified sounds REALLY dicey. My car was hit in a parking garage in CA, never knew who hit it, and there was no issue with the insurance co. I don't even remember if a police report was filed.

I was once in a minor fender bender and the fuzz told me the exact opposite. Even though the guy behind me was stopped and the guy behind him hit him so hard that it caused him to hit me (also stopped), I would have to go through the insurance of the guy in the middle. In your case, maybe his insurance would cash out to hit and run if you were to raise a claim.

In my case, I didn't file a claim because I couldn't even see the damage.

The Daily Beast had more gems from the Trumpkin meltdown over having to read excerpts from the Declaration on Twitter.

Looks like the Japanese have been holding Amerlia Earhart prisoner. Welcome to Trump's America.

Related, my favorite part of the non-bot responses to NPR is how many -- not realizing they are responding to quotes from the Declaration -- are losing their **** about the timing, that July 4th is a sacred day of remembrance of America and we should never criticize American political leadership on the 4th of all days, what would the Founders think about such apostasy?

Obviously these are just reflexive idiots who grasp at any perceived criticism of Daddy Trump as a violation of the sacred American covenant, but you can appreciate just how whipped into nationalist fervor these clowns are that they've contorted themselves into claiming July 4th is not the day for political agitation.

Poultry company hires Guatemalan refugees/ illegal immigrants fleeing violence there and puts them to work in dangerous conditions but suddenly remembers they're illegal when they try to organize and then fires them.
Quote:
The Labor Department, in addition to finding numerous safety violations, fined Cal-Clean, Case Farms’ sanitation contractor, sixty-three thousand dollars for employing four child laborers, including Osiel. The fines and the citations against Case Farms have continued to accumulate. Last September, osha determined that the company’s line speeds and work flow were so hazardous to workers’ hands and arms that it should “investigate and change immediately” nearly all the positions on the line. As the company fights the fines, it finds new ways to keep labor costs down. For a time, after the Guatemalan workers began to organize, Case Farms recruited Burmese refugees. Then it turned to ethnic Nepalis expelled from Bhutan, who today make up nearly thirty-five per cent of the company’s employees in Ohio. “It’s an industry that targets the most vulnerable group of workers and brings them in,” Debbie Berkowitz, osha’s former senior policy adviser, told me. “And when one group gets too powerful and stands up for their rights they figure out who’s even more vulnerable and move them in.”

Recently, Case Farms has found a more captive workforce. One blazing morning last summer in Morganton, an old yellow school bus arrived at Case Farms and passed through the plant’s gates, pulling up to the employee entrance. Dozens of inmates from the local prison filed off, ready to work at the plant. Even their days may be numbered, however. During the tour in Canton, Popowycz and other Case Farms managers showed me something they were excited about, something that would help solve their labor problems and also reduce injuries: in a corner of the plant was a shiny new machine called an “automatic deboner.” It would soon replace seventy per cent of the workers on the line.

Probably a better thread for this, and while I obviously cannot vouch for it and haven't read the report, it seems important.

A New Report In Sweden Reveals Erdoğan Orchestrated July 15 Coup In Turkey

Quote:
Based on publicly available data, the coup indictments, testimonials in court trials, private interviews, reviews of military expert opinions and other evidence collected by researchers, SCF is fairly confident that this attempt did not even qualify a coup bid in any sense of military mobilization which was unusually limited in numbers, confined in few cities, poorly managed, defied the established practices, tradition, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures in Turkish military.

STrolley,

A very long time ago I had a car that was parked and got hit and run and I think I only had liability and uninsured and I got covered. This was 30 years ago so I might not remember it right and laws may have changed.

Still, It's hard to beat insurance companies and a lawyer may be expensive compared to this cost.

I'd go with reading the policy and then making a stink myself if it looks like you should be covered.

It's ****ing hot. I drove across town to San Bernardino on my motorcycle to go to the building department and they closed because it was too hot and the AC couldn't keep up. Then I went to the library to wait out the heat a little and the power goes out and they evacuate because it's too hot.

Bringing this back to politics, **** Trump!

I follow Turkish media (in English) a little because I'm following Rojava news in northern Syria. The Turkish gov and media are incredibly FOS. The propaganda is incredibly transparent. Faking the coup would totally not be surprising.
