It's not an easy task, you're right. But that's the task before us if we want to keep our small-L liberal democracy.

I would guess 80%+ of Trump supporters would just be happy with the border being secure

And the Trumpregrets thing can be funny to read, but let's face it, 90% of his supporters likely do not feel that way. The Carrier deal alone has brought him a lot of goodwill.
Well they would probably be happy if in 6 months Trump tells them the current state of the border and say "I did that." Without actually doing anything.

Trump doesn't need daily intelligent briefings because he's smart.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

President-elect Donald Trump is pushing back against criticism that he receives intelligence briefings only once a week.

"I get it when I need it," the president-elect said in an interview that aired Sunday on "Fox News Sunday."

"First of all, these are very good people that are giving me the briefings. And I say, 'If something should change from this point, immediately call me. I'm available on one-minute's notice.'"

A report published last week said the president-elect receives on average only one presidential intelligence briefing a week. That number is far lower than his predecessors, according to the Reuters report.

Trump suggested during the interview it isn't necessary for him to receive the presidential briefings daily.

"I'm, like, a smart person," the president-elect said during the interview.
"I don't have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years -- but eight years. I don't need that."

He can "say we have so millions in detention centres and we have deported so many Mexicans" even if he does nothing at all. He can probably spin it as being down to him in some way. His idiot following would probably think he was doing well even if there was a substantial increase in immigration.

Well of course it's just the damn liberal MSM telling them Trump has done nothing.

I hung out with an old friend last night who a) believes every illuminati/bilderberg/rothschild conspiracy theory and b) voted for Trump.

I asked him in what universe would the illuminati ever let Trump win over Clinton? You could see his brain short-circuit for a bit. Then he stammered something like "well they don't win every time".

"I didn't particularly care for either one of them, but ... I thought Trump would make a better president," Johnson said. "I didn't think either one of them ... should be president. I didn't think either one was qualified enough. Hillary, some of the things that she stood for, especially abortion, our Second Amendment, I didn't -- I couldn't vote for her especially (because of) that."
Right. So the thing every democrat stands for (abortion) and the thing that literally hasn't been touched for 50+ years (gun rights) = let's elect the dangerous nutjob who bullies beauty contestants and gold star families on twitter.

Does a single Trump voter care at all that he's stocking his cabinet with wealthy donors? Wasn't the like a #1 fear that Hillary was going to do? Or was it just BernieBros who were worried

"Caring what trump says or does" was not on the list of things trump supporters gave a damn about

I have a very comparable friend and he's convinced that Trump will be killed by the Trilateral \ Illuminati \ Whateva before his inauguration

It was during his 60 Minutes interview after the election. But sitting on my couch, sipping coffee as I watched the interview, I saw with my own eyes who Trump really was as a person. He backtracked on one of his signature campaign promises: pursuing an investigation into the Clinton email scandal. It’s not that I want Clinton to be crucified or “locked up” — it’s the nonchalance with which he went back on his word after hammering it repeatedly during the campaign. The ease and quickness with which he reversed his position shook me to my core.

I’m a former law enforcement officer in my 50s, originally from Texas but currently living in a small Midwestern town. I’m a real political junkie, spending much of my day reading news and watching C-SPAN, and issues like immigration enforcement, pro-life laws, and health care are important to me. Though I tend to fall on the conservative end of the political spectrum, it’s important to me to remain open-minded, and I’ve cast my vote for Democratic candidates like Al Gore in the past.

Last year was a particularly tough choice. I hated both candidates, wishing every day that Washington had offered up different options. I would have voted for Marco Rubio or Bernie Sanders any day over those two. I swore I would sit out on this election, unable to vote for either Trump or Clinton in good conscience.

Since that 60 Minutes interview when Trump went back on his promise to investigate Clinton, I haven’t been able to look at him the same way. Witnessing his open admittance that he made promises simply because they “played well” during the campaign was disturbing. He has shown himself to be guilty of all of the same things he accused Hillary of — lying to the public, refusing to do press conferences, putting himself and his business interests above the American people.

It’s not easy for me to come forward and say all of this. I feel humiliated already, and I know that going public with my story will open me to ridicule. But I don’t know what else to do to try to oppose him and his actions. I’m too sick to participate in peaceful protest. All I can do is try to spread the word, publishing editorials, signing petitions, and posting on Facebook, trying to do what I can to change the minds of my friends and families who continue to support him.

This just in: people are stupid, fickle and hard to satisfy.

Most Trump supporters I know are doing anywhere from fine to completely kicking ass with the status quo - which Hillary practically ran on as her primary campaign plank. But let's just burn it all down anyway because we're having a bad hair day.

Says a lot about Democrat messaging that this chick's core issue is healthcare for the poor and yet she voted GOP.

I always thought the poll options would be from the point of inauguration, but it seems like many of them figured it out within days of voting. Bully for them being smart enough to quickly identify the blatant scam they fell for in only a number of days and weeks.

Wait until the first terrorist attack when Trump starts rounding up Mooslims and terrifying them. They'll be back on board.

Even after it gets let out that he's been ignoring security warnings and dismantling the intelligence agencies in the hopes they don't find out how much Russia helped him?

No, those things would be FAKE NEWS, very unfair

Trumpcast had a great interview this week with a Russian journalist that talked about how and why trump is trying to delegitimize the press. Probably too much of a blunt axe to go full putin, but he's sure trying.

This reporter's asking people who are already in DC for the inaguration why they like Trump, and their responses are just...

tremendous.
01-19-2017 , 04:06 PM
This story is laughable, but, as a fun thought experiment, if he danced with Caitlyn Jenner @ the Inauguration, would the Trumpkins (a) freak out, or (b) treat it like a joke / conclusive proof that he is inclusive and would it change any minds on Trans rights/bathroom bills/etc.?
