CNN's blasting a headline on the front page. Another rep there reports 50 gunshots with Scalise and aides hit, no reported fatalities and shooter may be in custody.

Twitter speculation and finger-pointing started immediately. It will obviously result in gun policy talk, the decorum of which probably depends on what the shooter's motivation and background winds up being. Early word is he didn't get hit as bad as Giffords, so that's good if true.

Rand Paul was there, just recounting events as he saw them. Says two security only there because Scalise was on the ball team, they were both shot. Shooter hit also.

Kind of hearing him take the "good guys with guns" line a little, but then again they are police/security and likely stopped the shooter, so that seems fair.
