Solve the police problem by having policemen who are from the inner city. It may be time to separate felonies into serious felonies and minor felonies. Those with minor felonies from the inner city are allowed to enter the police force. They would serve their probationary period working in the inner city.

a good idea but also just get rid of a lot of the minor felonies. How many are for offenses which could easily not have been illegal at all or could have been treated as non-felony offenses?

I read a good article basically on this:

"I turned to check on Hunter, a high school intern from Oregon who was staying with my family for a few weeks, but she was on the phone.

“Someone was just shooting on the beach,” she said, between gulps of air, to the person on the line.
Unable to imagine whom she would be calling at that moment, I asked her, somewhat indignantly, if she couldn’t have waited until we got to safety before calling her mom.

“No,” she said. “I am talking to the police.”

My friends and I locked eyes in stunned silence. Between the four adults, we hold six degrees. Three of us are journalists. And not one of us had thought to call the police. We had not even considered it.

We also are all black."

"Hunter, who is biracial and lives with her white mother in a heavily white area, had not been exposed to the policing many black Americans face. She was about to be.

On the phone, she could offer only the most generic of suspect descriptions, which apparently made the officer on the other end of the line suspicious. By way of explanation, Hunter told the officer she was just 16. The police called her back: once, twice, then three times, asking her for more information. The interactions began to feel menacing. “I’m not from here,” Hunter said. “I’ve told you everything I know.”

The fourth time the police called, she looked frightened. Her interrogator asked her, “Are you really trying to be helpful, or were you involved in this?” She turned to us, her voice aquiver. “Are they going to come get me?”

“See,” one of us said, trying to lighten the mood. “That’s why we don’t call them.”

We all laughed, but it was hollow."

I consider Ray Rice's and Adrian Peterson's offenses minor felonies.

The story of 'cop tries to get information about a shooting' really isn't the horrible thing the article tries to make it. That's a symptom. It sure as hell isn't the problem.

You consider physical assault to be minor? And you want people who have assaulted women to be eligible to be cops?

Wow.

Just glanced at wiki on Peterson and not sure we want someone who beats a 4 year old with a tree branch in the police.

Someone who experimented with drugs - that's probably a huge number of the police anyway and no big deal.

Wow.
Not if you're white. There is no shortage of white cops. There is a shortage of inner city kids who are cops.

I think this Texas Republican really hit the nail on the head here:

lol what? what physical assault? The cop called her on the phone and the article never mentions meeting anyone in person. The cop called someone who grew up in the rich suburbs with the name 'Hunter'. How does the cop know the witness is mixed race again?

Frankly, the anecdote sounds like bull****, but even if true, it's simply an symptom. A cop calling someone back to investigate a shooting isn't exactly police abuse ffs.

Broke his own spine, you say? Welp, Friday is going to be interesting.

From the sounds of it, someone wants to make a deal.
04-29-2015 , 09:58 PM
The prisoner saying this stuff didn't speak to a reporter about this. Straight up leaked by the BPD.

WBAL Reporter on MSNBC says the 2nd prisoner was only in the van for about 5 mins and by that time Freddie Gray was unresponsive. Saying timelines don't match. Contradicts previous police reports. Statement given to WaPo was by a detective that summarized the prisoner's statement.

Hannity going full #OrbitalSocketz.

He punched a woman in the face and knocked her cold. I would have no problem with him getting 7 or 8 years for what he did. But he had to miss a season and get some counseling, more than enough for someone who commits a minor offense like knocking out a female.

Am I drunk or did I read putting Ray Rice on the police force involuntarily as a proposed step towards a solution?

Team Benghazi was a coverup getting a lot ****ing less skeptical now, huh?

seattlelou, good to see you haven't managed to hit puberty since you peed your pants in terror at what those savages would do to sweet George Zimmerman in jail. Jesus Christ you are an embarrassment to my country.

I like Mary Koch, the Gray family attorney. She seems to be a straight shooter.
04-29-2015 , 10:37 PM
But seattle I know you better than the rest of the class. So why don't you elaborate for any of the new kids.

Why would you not want to switch places with that other prisoner?

Be specific. For the first day in your entire ****ing life, be a man. Act like an adult, own your beliefs.
