Another in SF yesterday, again with lies by police. Meanwhile it's over a year since the execution of Tamir Rice, the 12-yo in Cleveland where we all saw the video and somehow no charges yet. And Minneapolis won't release the video of the man killed while allegedly in handcuffs.

I don't know about this one. The video looks bad.

Cliffs:
- Allegedly armed man points gun at cop this morning and gets blasted away.
- Witness video released this afternoon shows man walking away from the police. Cop unloads 10 shots in his back, while man is crawling on the ground the cop and his partner unload about 10-15 more shots in him.

It's far too short a video to reach any conclusions, IMO. While it's obviously disturbing to watch a man be gunned down while seemingly just walking away from police, I can see how a situation involving a non-compliant person firing a gun might escalate to the point of requiring deadly force.

But, damn, they fire like 20 shots at the guy.

It could have been a legit shooting. We don't know if one of the cops announced "he's comin right for us" before opening fire.

a statement released by the LA County Sheriff included this gem:

Quote:
However, the suspect did not comply and did not drop the handgun, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred.
A+ rephrasing of "man blown to ****ing smithereens by deputies."

That video very obviously shows a murder.

we need to get a toxicology report on the victim first, i for one am waiting for all the facts to come out before i make my judgment

Police officers and white supremacists disagree!

good to see this thread has moved on from the unarmed to the armed.

We should join together and declare "Police must stop shooting those unfortunate armed suspects. Hey hey ho ho shooting armed suspects has got to go!"
12-13-2015 , 09:28 PM
Its still illegal to shoot suspects in the back when they are not close to getting away or are not a threat even if they have a weapon. This is undeniable when they are crawling on the ground already shot multiple times.

The system works!

Feels like the jury is going to hang with a few holdouts. They specifically asked to read transcripts of what the cop told IA along with stationary like highlighters and post its. Looks like some are digging in their heels rather than them just being thorough reviewing all the evidence.

I didn't think Porter would be convicted of anything. His trial revealed major dysfunction in the BPD tho.

Mistrial.
Hung jury on all four counts.

Why is the guy from the wire holding a press conference discussing this case?

Any news out of the jury, how it ended up as a mistrial despite obviously being manslaughter etc?

LONG BEACH, Calf. — Last year, two Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies stopped a man for wearing headphones while biking, and when he attempted to continue on his way, he was thrown to the ground and then shot and killed. Police quickly made a cover story and accused the victim, Noel Aguilar, of pulling a gun on the officers, and until now there has been no evidence to prove them wrong. However, video of the incident has recently surfaced showing how the murder actually took place.

Not obviously anything. There's a presumption of innocence and this is the guy they had the weakest case against.

That's straight up murder. How did the officer get shot though?
12-19-2015 , 03:55 PM
Looks to me like the other officer shot him.

I first thought the right officer's gun was lying on the ground at that point. I looked again and that might have been sunglasses.
