The federal government is provide for common defense. That is plainly spelled out in the constitution. What is not spelled out is a governmental responsibility to provide welfare and entitlement programs. If the GOP believe the cuts in military spending are too deep, they have a constitutional obligation to undo them even at the expense of welfare programs. If you want to fault those GOP obstructionists, fault them for caving into the dems and agreeing to the cuts in the first place.
Had the rolls been reversed. Had the Dems caved and made most the automatic cuts in welfare, you can bet that they would have voted to undo those cuts if they had the political power to bring such a vote to the floor.
This complaint about the GOP is shallow and any independent thinker can see that.
