As the fiscal adults like Paul Ryan and Tom Coburn often say, this is the most predictable crisis in history. If we wait for the bond vigilantes to strike, as in Europe today, the recourse will be painful spending cuts and destructive tax increases virtually overnight. The longer we extend Mr. Obama's legacy of slow growth and more debt, the greater the economic price to fix it.

Any article that calls Paul Ryan and Tom Coburn "fiscal adults" without being sarcastic should be mocked

That article seems to have started with the idea of...how do we portray this CBO report, which basically says the same **** we've been hearing for the past 2-3 years, so that it appears it is entirely Obama's fault and will be fixed by simply getting rid of Obama.

Theory goes that Obama doesn't like Clinton and won't listen to his advice. So this is the way he has to give Obama advice.

It certainly won't be simple but getting rid of Obama would be a good start.

Romney is far more likely to increase the deficit 2012-2016 than Obama is.
DUCY?

Make Bush Tax Cuts permanent
Add on an additional tax cut
Don't cut and most likely increase military spending
Possibly delay withdrawl from Afghanistan

Where exactly is the Great Mormon going to find this huge amount of $$$ to pay down the debt and decrease the deficit -- and I'm talking about **** they would actually pass that doesn't result in him and all his Rep colleagues getting voted out of office 2/4 years later which would be the result of them majorly ****ing with SS/Medicare etc?

Oh yeah, I forgot...repeal Obamacare and get rid of all the illegal, lazy, dirty, colored people on welfare...problem solved. Debt = 0. Ponies for everyone

Re: And Here. We. Go. 2012 Presidential Election: Obama v. Romney

Here is Mitt's fiscal goals from his website:

Quote:
Set Honest Goals: Cap Spending At 20 Percent Of GDP

Any turnaround must begin with clear and realistic goals. Optimistic projections cannot wish a problem away, they can only make it worse. As president, Mitt’s goal will be to bring federal spending below 20 percent of GDP by the end of his first term:

Reduced from 24.3 percent last year; in line with the historical trend between 18 and 20 percent
Close to the tax revenue generated by the economy when healthy
Requires spending cuts of approximately $500 billion per year in 2016 assuming robust economic recovery with 4% annual growth, and reversal of irresponsible Obama-era defense cuts
I looked around Barry's website but couldn't find anything on spending at all but he does mention that oh so important Buffett Rule that will increase revenues $6B over 10 years.
The most significant issue facing our country but he doesn't even bother to address it.

Well I am not real excited about the increased defense spending if that is what you are chastising me about. I'm also not excited about the Republican's insistence to not increase revenues. But Obama had no plan or desire to reduce government spending and it is unsustainable.
