UK conservative & been disowned I'm afraid here.

Pity the individual in question really, but there's a lot of dogma among young liberals across the world today, particularly when they hold views that are quite clearly contradictory.

No. It has strained some relationships though.

Guess I'm picking option 1, despite not having actually lost any family member, friend, or girlfriend over politics. I have however cut off RWNJ's on social media.

Bringing politics up in social situations seems like a leak.
If you know they're going to agree with you, then sure have a venting session together.

If they don't agree with you, you're unlikely to convince them of anything.

If they don't agree with you and you do change their mind, their vote is still unlikely to matter.

Does unfriending my uncle on Facebook because he kept sharing pictures of dead people from Benghazi count as disowning?

No, there are too many other things to discuss once you realize you don't stand the same political ground.

Lie is to short and family to important.

How close of a friend were they if they didn't know where you stood politically?

I vote bastard. None of those choices are true for me.

Yeah I voted keep politics out of my personal life but that isn't really true.

Would be interesting to have a politard meetup. Shatter some stereotypes. I bet Fly is quite affable irl. I got rara as really looking like Fred Flintstone though.

Depends. Like, obviously, if someone is a nazi I doubt you could hang with them even if they were a family member. You just wouldn't be able to stand it if they went on about the great Zionist conspiracy and gas chambers and stuff.

The Brexit thing has been a difficult adjustment for me. I sound English but look Polish. I am not sure how much British people can tell-Poles can, but I'm also married to an eastern european woman so it probably isn't difficult to put 2+2 together.

It has become apparent that the British people voted collectively to get rid of people who look like me. The complete absence of a coherent economic argument for Brexit (not saying there wasn't one, just none that were presented) and the subsequent passing of the referendum proves that.

So, if I meet a Brexiteer the chances are that somewhere lurking in their subconscious is a deep-seated hatred of people who look like me. I can't ignore that. I would have difficulty trusting them.
