Looks like old ronnie did a pretty good job!

Did any of you guys actually live through the late 70's and 80's? I'm guessing your statist "educators" left out a few salient factoids like these, eh?

Ever try to qualify for a mortgage with the rates >15% ? Facts are damn nasty things.
Yeah, Reagan spent a bunch of money to prop up the economy. Well done, I guess.

Just let me know when the current GOP starts approving Reagan's actual actions and policies instead of just the man.

If you invalidate 2 Carter votes, it's actually 26-23.

Better than spending money to tank the economy, like some President is doing.

If Obama is ever given the opportunity to quadruple the national debt without result we'll talk.

Of course, nice goal post shift. The current R party isn't part of this thread.

Pretty interesting macroeconomic theory how spending a bunch of money slaughters inflation and lowers interest rates. I think you could write an econ text about that.

Ah yes, clearly we must all worship at the throne of a man who tripled the deficit and spent his last years governing with the early stages of Alzheimer's.

The hero worship of this guy is amazing to me. He certainly wasn't the worst president but dear God they treat this dude like a ****ing deity who should already be on the quarter and Mt Rushmore.
05-16-2012 , 03:52 PM
Well, he did single-handedly win the cold war, lol.

I'm more of a libertarian, and I was born in the early 80s so I don't have much useful firsthand of the two, but from everything I've read about them, I would choose Carter. Not that he was anything special.
05-16-2012 , 04:18 PM
Both options are a joke.
05-16-2012 , 04:27 PM
Cool. I think Ill go open a microbrew and drink to Jimmy Carter.

Reagan wins 30-28 based on raw vote totals. But, invalidating:

Bored5000, nitroller (Carter)

El-Irish, Jim Lahey, mrbaseball, Pun Intended, THEBIGYELLOWJOINT, YoureToast and Country Roads. (Reagan)

Carter wins 28-21.

what has obama done to the deficit?
05-16-2012 , 06:34 PM
Raised it by 50%. That's bush league deficit spending compared to Reagan.

In percent maybe, but Barry is hands down the absolute dollar king.

I missed this one, but I would have sucked it up and voted for Reagan, even though I pretty much despised him. Carter couldn't lead a marching band down a straight, short street.
