This is part of a contest for 2+2's greatest President of all time. Each President is matched up against his successor in a single elimination tournament.

You have until 29th April to vote. To vote, you must have registered before January 1st, 2012 and have at least 100 posts in Politics. You can change your vote via PM any time up until the deadline.

The top six highest margins in Round 1 get a bye, as do the two highest vote margins in Round 2.

The end of his presidential tenure was marked by the 1979–1981 Iran hostage crisis, the 1979 energy crisis, the Three Mile Island nuclear accident, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (at the end of 1979), 1980 Summer Olympics boycott by the United States of the Moscow Olympics and the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.

I see Reagan's turning this into a real contest.

Jimmy Carter built, like, 2,000 houses for poor people with his bare hands.

Reagan holds several jelly bean related world records.

I'll take Carter over Reagan even though abstaining is a good option. Carter sucks, but I hate Reagan more than any other president.

Great article by Jimmy Carter.

Way I see it, America needs a president who's gonna somehow un-royally screw up the Middle East, do
some serious cleaning up after you dropped your pants and took a steaming dump all over the ****ing environment, and—boom!—restore dignity, honor, and all that **** to these United States.

The fact that Carter has led this poll most of the way so far gives me at least some hope for the human race. I will never understand the love for Reagan. It makes zero sense, and requires the most absurd historical revisionism.
