The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court

Cynically I think there are other things at play here. For one thing, McCain is on the DL and it looks like he might be there a while. They don't have the votes without McCain ldo. Meanwhile, CBO is about to score this turd and anyone who has paid even a small amount of attention knows that it's going to score poorly. More and more opposition will build and the heat will come with it. Now is as good a time as any to get out in front with the "SEE HOW INDEPENDENT I AM GUYS?!?" gambit.

I'd legit never heard of this Moran dude before today.

Remember how a half dozen Sens announced they were no's the day they began the last recess.

I think they were like "oh hell no I already booked a flight for the recess gotta tweet the Turtle and get the hell out of dodge."

Probably, but it's encouraging that there is at least some impact that being terrible policy and enormously unpopular. The house passed the AHCA, after all.

Sick strategy. This guy is a thinker.

All the true heros with an R are now calling for bipartisan path forward for healthcare. So brave. Suck my big penis cock lick a stinky ballsack you ass eating cretins.

lol GOPers, like 15 of them will now suddenly be very concerned about something and say because Democrats they can't support this bill
07-17-2017 , 11:08 PM

I have confidence in Mitch to find a way to kill a lot of people. He never gives up.
07-17-2017 , 11:14 PM
2 year delay huh. For everything mcconnell is, he's not dumb.
07-17-2017 , 11:18 PM
Nobody ever lost power overestimating the stupidity of the GOP base
07-17-2017 , 11:21 PM
They've become down right psychotic on this thing.
07-17-2017 , 11:24 PM
I love this strategy. Can't pass? Just make it worse. Somehow seems to be working for the GOP. Or more correctly, their donors.

Well it wasn't very stupid.

Title change to "hanging on by a blood clot" imo.

That won't make it to the floor. Get a grip turtle.

Looks like this was the vote last time:
https://www.senate.gov/legislative/L...n=1&vote=00329

52 votes, minus one for Ayotte (who lost her seat) and one for McCain (who is MIA) and that is 50 by my count.
07-17-2017 , 11:39 PM
Why not repeal with a 30 year delay?

But can't the democrats just filibuster if they go for full repeal? It wouldn't be done under reconciliation.

Well he's looking at the same senate map everyone else is, they'll gain seats in 2018; then they don't have to worry about having to get to 50.

They might not gain any seats at this rate, and they could easily set themselves up to lose bigly in 2020 while getting nothing done until then. There's no endgame that let's them run out the clock right now. They can't do a tax cut like they wanted, they have to pass something to raise the debt ceiling for mnuchin soon, and they have to run interference for russiagate pretty much nonstop. that's not even counting random stuff like bloodclots happening all the time.

Can't they do a tax cut, they just have to sunset them like Bush did?

Bush was popular at the time, that gave a lot of political cover. They don't have a war yet, but that would only help trump, not congress.

Solid post. At the current rate, you have one more post remaining for the year.

They can zero out the marketplace subsidies, Medicaid expansion and tax hikes, which would effectively destroy Obamacare.

That was when they didn't have to worry about it becoming law. Ryan would have done this already if he could.

Collins voted against that bill even when it wouldn't count. She's definitely out. Have to imagine Heller is still out even though he voted for it in 2015. But they may have 50 votes with McCain. Rand was always their toughest get.

It hasn't been mentioned here from what I've seen, but this comment is extra stupid knowing that they aren't even doing real President-involved, bipartisan healthcare reform. They're working on some narrowly conservative version of faux "health" "care" with full control of Congress and he's STILL complaining about the complexity.
