Alzheimer's is quite possibly the worst disease of our species.

It takes from you --- you mind, your metaphorical soul --- what makes you, you.

At least let us vote on it. It is 18% of our economy and everyone uses it. A nuclear bomb is theoretical. A visit to the doctor is normal.

Spending more or less on healthcare doesn't equate necessarily to good health or care. There should be a minimum of support for all though. Don't know how much we should spend on prolonging life and what is the quality determinant.

We can easily make it so 100% have insurance. Make the deductible $25k or $50k. That should cover 99% of people. We are getting closer to that.

The desire of the people around him to see poor people suffer might be too great for them to consider it, but I think it's the move.
This is what people who voted for him expected from him, but of course this isn't what they're getting because they were conned. He has proven this by throwing his lot in with this joke of a bill.

I don't believe the individual market *has* collapsed, but how many 20% price increases can it sustain? Clinton didn't think the ACA individual market was going according to plan.

Hi everyone, I want to introduce tomhaas who wanted to discuss healthcare over in the Tragic Death thread but it would probably be better off here:

Anyway, I'm not an expert on healthcare so I can only hazard a guess, but doesn't the "forced" aspect of Obamacare involve forcing people to pay for health insurance, key word being "pay"? (there are lots of subsidies involved for poorer people obviously, but the government is paying for those too!)

Trump lies. Session lied. Flynn lied. Pruitt lied. Spicer lies constantly. This administration is full of LYING LIARS.

Pretty sure he's upset because emergency rooms are forced to take care of uninsured people instead of letting them die in the streets.

Dude everyone knows Nancy Pelosi said we have to pass it to find out what's in it. People are saying. You have your facts, I have mine.

Nah, it's a mess.

Hospital cancelled the contract of an ER group of docs that had been there for decades and gave it to a megagroup. Community docs were pissed, hospital had its Emergency residency cert pulled. (dunno why, but I'd note you have to REALLY **** UP to have your cert pulled) Also some allegations about an improper relationship between someone in the megagroup and the hospital board.

I dont know enough about the specifics to comment, but I saw something similar with a non-ER group in my system, and as usual, there was plenty of incompetence/bad business sense/asshattery on all sides.

Has nothing to do with uninsured/insured/etc. etc. Not everything is about Obamacare/ACS/Trumpcare - sometimes simple business ****tardary is the explanation.

He's a dead ringer for the douchbag "firing-line" talk show guy in Startship Troopers. Cracks me up everytime he's trying to explain away the latest ****show from our beloved president.

That is happening all over the place. Big hospital make deal with big hospitalist group. The local doctors and ER who served the community hospital are pulled after decades of commitment. New hospitalists come into the hospital and take over virtually all hospital care. Then they refer out to hospital-aligned primary and specialists only.

But these hospitalists tend not to be the best and there is backlash and infighting. They just appear at the hospital one day and they still have to interact with local doctors. And then the local doctors revolt against it.

Cotton is totally posturing on the Price thing being court challenged. Dems are never going to challenge something that will likely lower pricing for people to additional providers in their states and he knows it. Ryan even said that tonight that if Dems challenge that in court they can say goodbye to the mid term elections in 2018 because they'll totally alienate a significant part of their base. He's just saying that to push his move to get the provisions in this changed.

This presents an opportunity for Democrats to do right by these voters, swoop in and win them over. Surely the voters will see who has their best interests at heart.
