The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court

What are the out of pocket expenses for someone who thinks they have insurance, and the insurance company is happily taking their premiums, until they actually get sick and find out their non-reported case of acne 10 years ago invalidates their insurance?

I'm conservatives are factoring in that this will no longer happen to all cost/compassion models.

lol is that all Rara has left these days?

So sick that I actually have to consider that there's a motive on the GOP side that profits from the degradation of the functioning and future stability of this country. That isn't patriotic. That isn't American. That is treasonous, if true.

Both religious dominionists and economic extremists have motives to hate the constitution for empowering the people they obviously think are lessor than them.

edit: should maybe take it to the tragic death thread.

Yeah but didn't your deductible go up to one million dollars?

Just got a letter from Blue Cross. My single plan will go from ~90 a month to ~320. WTF, that can't be real.

If you're paying $90 now, it's because you have a crappy plan that doesn't cover much .

I just saw a table that said my insurance premiums will drop from $360 to $180, though I'm not sure whether the exchange plan listed provides a similar benefit to my current insurance ($500 deductible, then 20% coinsurance I think)

So you're getting the benefits that were listed on your plan before, scam-free now, at the actual cost they cost. And you have every ability to shop around for a similar-benefit plan that costs less, without having to worry about the scamtacular plans that were the majority of the market pre-ACA. Sounds pretty awesome to be you right now.

Check what plan they switched you to. You may be able to switch to a cheaper bronze level plan to save money.

No, I had pretty sweet coverage for my needs. 1500 deductible, no copay, no coinsurance. Pretty sweet for someone that doesn't plan to ever go to the doctor unless absolutely necessary.

I shopped around for this plan. It's pretty damn easy. Granted I'm a super simple approval for an underwriter.

I'm fine with paying more for the same coverage as long as there's a huge benefit to those that have pre existing conditions. However, having my coverage 3-4x isn't exactly selling me on this.

Just went to the links they sent on my letter to check my coverage. Both were not working. Huge fail on my insurance company.

What are the odds of early higher rates getting bounced back via rebates due to the people signing up?

The online insurance exchanges open tomorrow. If I were you I would check there and see if you can find a better plan to fit your needs and your cost levels. Depending on the insurance offered by your employer, you may or may not qualify for subsidized rates. But I would definitely shop around before overpaying for a plan I wasn't comfortable with or confident in--you have that option now, thanks to ObamaCare!

The GOP did it to distance itself even further from obamacare... Good idea, IMO.

How can they be any further, after voting to repeal it 40-whatever times?
09-30-2013 , 02:54 PM
Reminder that plans arent apples-to-apples comparable since caps and pre-existing coverage laws have changed.

Claire McCaskill is currently on the senate floor making a mockery of herself and the English language. Somewhere, TPTB, or whomever that constructed her campaign victory is laughing their ass off.

I believe the name you were looking for is Akin. Todd Akin.
09-30-2013 , 03:19 PM
The most expertly devised 'fund your opponent' campaign of all time IMO

So you have to enroll any time from Oct 1 to Dec 15 to have your coverage start on Jan 1, 2014? NYT posted premium prices by state some time yesterday: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...iums.html?_r=0

Why is Wyoming so expensive? Not a lot of people to pool?

If it were a legitimate mockery of the English language, senators have a way of shutting that whole thing down.
