The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court The Great ObamaCare Debate, Part 237: Back to Court

It will be at least the seventh month before a majority congress / presidency even votes on their health bill after they trumpeted ACA repeal for almost an entire decade.

It is not like they have been busy doing other things. It is doubtful that any three-headed majority has done less in the first six months ever. For that we are lucky and it is still debatable how much they really want this to go and are not just playing theater. I have given up on their incompetency cueing the rest of the people in.

Yesterday I thought they would find a way to get this passed, with only Heller and Collins voting no. I don't think so anymore. There only option is to go right, and hope to limit moderate defectors to Collins and Heller, but I think when they go far enough right to get Paul on board, they will lose more than just those two, especially after they all get their faces chewed off at home over recess.

If they don't, Democratic hopefuls in 2018 and 2020 for House and Senate should hold them.

Portman was going to 100% eat his own **** and vote for the bill, despite his continuous talk of the opioid crisis and how it's hurting Ohio. McConnell will appease the hard right by making this even more evil, and the amended bill will pass the House and Senate.

Edit: McConnell will add like a $5 million special abuse fund, pat Portman on the head, and that will be that.

This is the preview for if trump gets impeached. You'll find all the senators were dead against him the whole time.
06-27-2017 , 05:26 PM
They need to do one of those "Real American Hero" parody songs with these senators for publicly deciding to oppose the bill after it was pulled.

Pretty big win for American lives, even if they can still pass this thing after the recess.
I'm directly impacted by this bill if it passes, and I have conflicted feelings on the delay. Like, if it passes, there's a pretty high likelihood I'd have to uproot my life and relocate to a state where I will be able to get insurance - possibly Massachusetts. Obviously I would love for the bill to fail, but I just don't think it will. People who are less informed than those of us following it day to day keep telling me it won't pass, don't worry about it... But I feel like there's still over a 90% chance they pass something, and it'll be pretty awful.

So basically, I feel like I've been laying in the healthcare guillotine since November 8th, and they keep saying, "Okay, we're going to wait another month... another week... etc."

Part of me just wants it to be over so I can figure out where I need to move, how disrupted my career will be, and what I need to do to get on with my life. **** me over or don't, GOP, but make up your minds.

I'd consider Canada. We'd be happy to have you.

ACA will be repealed but maybe they hammer something out that kills only 20 million instead of 22 million.

I looked into it after the election, but it seems very difficult as a poker pro. My understanding was that you have to be moving there for a job that a Canadian citizen can't fill. Is that inaccurate?

From what I understood you just get citizenship if you move there. Didn't look into it terribly deeply tho

Pretty sure that I won't go back to America if Obamacare is repealed.

NHS will pay for almost everything if I stay in Scotland.

look into the visas for temporary employment like ski instructors and agricultural workers. Tons of kids do that every year, then end up staying using whatever method.

I might have gotten some bad information from an article, it looks like I could apply to immigrate as a self-employed poker pro. Hmmm... ROW Stars and universal healthcare? Not a bad deal...

Obamacare was going to fail eventually. There is no magic fix. Well there is, but once again, but we aren't brave enough or selfless enough to do it.

Every developed country in the world aside from the US has healthcare figured out.

****, you have people who get offered healthcare and refuse it. What kind of insanity is this?

When I was living in Spain, I broke my collarbone and suffered a grade 3 separated shoulder. The prep, surgery, hospital stay after the surgery, physical therapy, medical supplies needed to recover, and painkillers were all without charge.

I have no idea how much I would have paid in America, but I doubt it would have been nothing.

Didn't like 95% of pro poker playing Americans move to Vancouver after black Friday?

Yes. Well at least those in power are.

Difference is that the rest of the developed world treats healthcare as a human right while America treats it as a service to be bought and sold.
