they are in possession of knowledge that the wider community is unaware of, which puts them in a powerful position.

Dr. Allan Panter, 57, an emergency-room physician from Gainesville, Ga., was standing 10 yards from the blast near the finish line, waiting for his wife, Theresa, to complete her 16th Boston Marathon. Assisted by others, he said he used gauze wraps to apply tourniquets to several victims, including a man who appeared to be in his late 20s who lost both of his lower legs in the blast. He said he saw another six or seven victims with belts tied around their wounded legs.
Please send this link to anyone in the "Why is there no blood?" crowd.

“We all would like to salvage whatever extremities we can, but one thing we’ve learned in trauma is when you get too much damage, you can create too much hassle, so you may get the amputation but it may be a year down the line. Ten operations, failed operations, addictions to narcotics for the chronic pains, all these kinds of things.” An early amputation, Dr. Burke added, can mean a quicker return to a normal life.

...

In the moments after the explosions, some patients recalled that they “thought they would die as they saw the blood spilling out,” said Dr. George Velmahos, chief of trauma services at Massachusetts General Hospital. When they awoke Tuesday and realized they were still alive, they said they felt extremely thankful, some even considering themselves lucky, Dr. Velmahos said.

“It’s almost a paradox,” he said, “to see these patients without an extremity to wake up and feel lucky.”
Whew, intense

Defense mechanisms for all of their life's failures. Helps them feed their own needs to blame gubmint (and others) for why their lives suck so hard.

dark skinned male individual - reporter won't tell us more FU

From video obtained from a department store apparently and then a TV station video to corroborate.

John King is a Boston native and worked in the news industry there. He could have reasonably good sources.

This will be my only post here, I don't want this to be about me at all or act as if I'm anywhere near as important as someone that was there and effected by this. I just want to dispel any rumors and say he is alive and in stable condition.

Also, I plan on meeting Carlos the man in the cowboy hat real soon.

This is at a race tent following the bombing, after which obviously race officials had fled or were doing other important things. Naturally in the carnage a ton of people's first instincts was to loot t-shirts and jackets.

Humans are still mostly just a bunch of nasty little apes at the end of they day.

Awesome. Wolf asked John King whether the surveillance camera revealed anything about the man's accent.

Maybe some lip readers can tell accents by the way someone rolls their tongue or something.

Too bad it's not NYC, cops would spring to action.
04-17-2013 , 01:23 PM
lol @ Cotton - the official is there cutting open and laying out boxes for the loooooooooters!

Weird that the CNN reporter will tell us part of what officials said but not comfortable saying anything else he heard.

Even if they were giving them a way seems like a ridiculous thing to be concerned with at that moment

"OMG bombs are going off, terrorists are attacking, people are dead and wounded... hey free t-shirts, do they have any mediums?"

If you watch the video you can see that the boxes just got there (middle aged white guy dropping them off) and probably telling people to grab some and hand them out.

But sure; go ahead and condemn people based on that video.

Or use them for tourniquets (no idea if that would work)?

People now seem to mistake entertainment sites for news sites a lot, so you get posts like the looting video. Zerohedge reposts are a big source, from my experience.
