lol, how many times has domer been caught flat-out lying about climate change? It's just embarrassing at this point.

Yeah we need a domer sticky.

Ask domer if a Hillary win was guaranteed to happen. Go on.

I find domer perfectly reasonable outside climate change threads. I feel like he's on the clock here, but relaxing anywhere else.

Sort of like how TJ Cloutier wins all his money at poker then blows it all at craps.

New EPA twitter account

"traditional values of environmental stewardship"

OK, that sounds like horrors wrapped in a warm and plainspoken commonsense blanket.

So no regular citizens as stakeholders eh? No, silly people, the environment is not for you. It's for those who sell stuff.

De-centralized tragedy of the commons scenarios always work out so well.

Those farmers did a great job of preventing the dust bowl when they tore up all the buffalo grass and never planted any tree lines. Oh wait, no that was the opposite. And even after the dust bowl they still fought the mean old government telling them to plant tree lines for decades.

i mean like of all the jobs to "save", coal mining has to be the ****ing worst
02-20-2017 , 08:50 PM
So there are 124 jobs in the coal mining industry that dump **** into streams? I assume the only requirement is that you're a ginger?

Some recent coal history

https://en.wikipedia.org\wiki/Kingst...h_slurry_spill

Quote:
The TVA Kingston Fossil Plant coal fly ash slurry spill occurred just before 1 a.m. on Monday December 22, 2008, when an ash dike ruptured at an 84-acre (0.34 km2) solid waste containment area at the Tennessee Valley Authority's Kingston Fossil Plant in Roane County, Tennessee, USA. 1.1 billion US gallons (4,200,000 m3) of coal fly ash slurry was released. The coal-fired power plant, located across the Clinch River from the city of Kingston, uses ponds to dewater the fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion, which is then stored in wet form in dredge cells. The slurry (a mixture of fly ash and water) traveled across the Emory River and its Swan Pond embayment, on to the opposite shore, covering up to 300 acres (1.2 km2) of the surrounding land, damaging homes and flowing up and down stream in nearby waterways such as the Emory River and Clinch River (tributaries of the Tennessee River). It was the largest fly ash release in United States history.
And note at the end what response there was from the EPA and class action law suits. Trumpkins want to keep the coal and get rid of the EPA and class action suits.

Also the places where they had to move whole towns because the kids downwind of the coal plant all got asthma. It was cheaper to just move the town than upgrade the plant.

I've been deep into western virginia. The people there really don't give a ****, mostly because of the corporations. Walmart ran everybody out of town so your only option down there is work at the Coal Mine or work at Walmart. The coal companies completely destroy the land and drive 80mph in big trucks down windy country roads. They pay the the coal drivers per truck load so they haul ass in these big heavy trucks. When you hear the ground shaking you better pull off to the side of the road.

Also, I remember when the garbage man came. We were sitting on the porch with some nice folks. The garbage man came and for some reason his truck wasn't designed to hold a lot of trash, it was piled up high. Mr trash man decided "**** it" and tossed a bunch of the trash into the river. A much easier solution. The folks on porch didn't seem to care much.

Basically this river bill means, the rivers are going to be a nice dumping ground for waste. Even more so then what they already are. It isn't like up in North east where someone might call you out dumping **** in ocean. They'll just ignore it for the most part.

LOL Tucker you got bullied by Bill Nye on your own show:

Quote:
TUCKER CARLSON (HOST): You're using the language of politics, look you're not a scientist as you know. You're a popularizer and that's fine.

BILL NYE: I'm using the language of economics.

CARLSON: I'm just saying to the extent that you prevent people from having an honest conversation you’re doing a grave disservice to science, don’t you think that?

NYE: You asked how long it would be before -- what the climate would be if humans weren’t involved right now, is that right?

CARLSON: Yeah, yes, that’s exactly right. At what point would it have changed and I’m just saying you don’t actually know because it’s unknowable so why aren’t you open to questions?

NYE: So this is how long it takes you to interrupt me, okay? So it takes you quite a bit less than six seconds. So the climate would be like it was in 1750, and the economics would be that you could not grow wine worthy grapes in Britain, as you can today, because the climate is changing. The use of pesticides in the Midwest would not be increasing because the parasites, or the pests are showing up sooner and hanging around longer--

CARLSON: I think that’s probably all true but--

NYE: --The forest in Wyoming would not be overwhelmed by Pine Bark Beetles as it is because of climate change. That’s how the world would be different if it weren’t for humans.

CARLSON: So much of this you don’t know, you pretend that you know, but you don’t know, and you bully people who ask you questions.

Many leading environmental scientists are now saying that we're past the point of no return. No international agreement ala the Montreal Accord (meaning an accord that not only was agreed upon, but also carried out) was realized when it came to global warming, and countries simply didn't do enough.

With globalization taking a huge hit in favor of nationalism and mercantilist policies, there is also no reason to think the world will be in a good state for last ditch efforts. Indeed, if we go by history it is far more likely that the potential world crisis will lead us into large-scale war and strife.

If these men and women are correct, the conclusion is simple. Our civilization and the political system we live in at an international level failed.

Continually interrupt someone every time he tries to answer your question then accuse him of bullying you. Jesus wept.

i'll go a step further- humanity is and always was doomed to failure, because of the role our amygdala plays in our decision making process.

ARK Investment projects unsubsidized EV price parity with gasoline cars in 2020 and for them to continue the trend and get less and less expensive. Bloomberg predicts 35% of new cars will be EVs in 2040. I'd love to see policies (and protests) that make that happen twice as fast and leave more fossil energy in the ground, but, take heart that economics alone will kill fossil fuels.

You global warming sissies are FOS. It's currently blizzarding here. Looks like global cooling to me.

Checkmate.
