How come you arent involved in the election rjoe? Given your unexpected "freedom" I figured you would have been able to get yourself a gig on the campaign in some capacity as you have humblebrag name dropped loads of people in the past.

I was asked by the Obama campaign to do some work here in Iowa but I wasn't up to it. Looking for a job out of state right now and trying to get some stuff in order and don't feel like I can commit to 60+ hours of campaigning right now.

ETA: I'll probably do weekend door knocking/phone banking in October but at this point I'm assuming I'll have a job by the end of September and will be campaigning anyways.

ETA2: I just emailed the campaign back to see if they could still use my help =\ Kind of hoping they say no but I have a feeling they don't turn down anyone.

Democrats should get James Earl Jones to introduce Obama -- in Darth Vader voice -- with the Imperial March playing as Obama walks on stage.

I'm guessing 0.5% of republicans would die of heart failure as they suddenly see all of their worst nightmares come true. Another 2% would likely flee the country before election day or forget to vote because they shot their TV.

Should be enough to tip a swing state or two.

They should have Tina Fey in character as Palin do the first speech of the entire event but do it with the theme that she was given this date and time in an email from the Romney campaign, then have her do a full on speech "attacking" the Dems using a range of the most ridiculous of her own quotes from the past 4 years. In all seriousness Obama needs to do a bit talking about how America loves immigrants. How a father can come to America, work hard, have children but while some may call them anchor babies they are true Americans through and through. And if they are lucky they get to go to Harvard benefiting from the opportunities of the country, start their own family and later in life become a one term governor or a senator and then run for President in 2008 and 2012.

A) I'm not far-left, although I suppose if we're talking about modern Republican ultra-right standards, you could say I am. By European/British standards, I'm centre/left of centre

B) This is just my opinion on a person, I would never punch anyone or do anything like that (I've never punched anyone in my life) and it's just me having a rant about my distaste for a certain politician

C) It's not really intolerance, I disagree with their positions, but I'm not stopping them, I believe in total freedom and the democratic process. Ironically enough the Republican party doesn't, otherwise they wouldn't have worked so hard to suppress minority voters, so think before you speak

D) I don't owe any politician any civility, not on an internet board at least. Obviously if I met them IRL I would show them the basic respect and civility I would anyone else, but why should I be 'civil' here when everyone is saying what they like about these politicians?
