I support baring all flights and closing all borders to Texas. Do not touch any Texan you meet.

I have a feeling Texans would be OK with this. Especially with all the succession talk.

And the way the hospital has screwed this up is beyond comprehension. Over under on the number of lawsuits brought against the hospital and their unbelievable incompetence.

Does Rush Limbaugh understand his expertise extends no further than being a blowhard? His take on Ebola is so God awful. It's like he's deathly allergic to having an informed opinion.

The list of things that went wrong at the hospital.

Staff at the US Hospital where a nurse caught Ebola had flimsy, ill-fitting protective gear, leaving their skin exposed to diarrhea and projectile vomiting from an infected man, according to a damning list of allegations from a nurses union.

Hazardous waste was allegedly piled up to the ceiling at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, in Dallas, where 26-year-old nurse Nina Pham caught the virus from victim Thomas Duncan who died last week.

Nurses were forced to use medical tape to secure openings in their flimsy garments, worried that their necks and heads were exposed as they cared for the patient who had diarrhea and vomiting, said Deborah Burger from the union.

Duncan was not isolated from other people despite having the virus. His medical records said that when his Ebola was suspected but unconfirmed, a doctor wrote "using the disposable shoe covers should also be considered."

At that point, by all protocols, shoe covers should have been mandatory to prevent anyone from moving contagious body fluids around the hospital.

Well that should make passengers feel better, we all know how squeaky-clean your typical Frontier jet is.

Scranton has like ~30 isolation beds, in a region w/ mondo geriatrics w/

To re-iterate the current urgency:

I really didn't think we were capable of these kind of levels of incompetence. It's mind blowing. If she infected even 1 other person while traveling this will get crazy fast.

Uh she had to prepare for her wedding. That's waaay more important then other random people's possible death.

Yeah, why didn't the government foresee negligent private hospitals?

he'll probably find some regulation to blame, or something

Obamacare, obv.

I predict "ebolacare" will become a thing.

It only got spread because of a band of urban youth with ebola-needles.

You do understand they are highly regulated at both the federal and state level, right?

Btw, has anyone called upon Ted Cruz to pressure his state into shutting their borders yet?

But for those federal regulations instructing hospitals to do X, they would have been doing X.
10-15-2014 , 04:49 PM
You can't crack that kind of mentality. Federal regulations have magical powers that **** everything up, basically. They really are the biblical version of the devil, a supernatural being going around making things bad.
10-15-2014 , 05:29 PM
M2B, my point is we don't know where the problem lies. It's possible the staff was not trained. It is also possible that the CDC recommendations are not sufficient.
