Wait, nobody's seriously talking about arming domestic drones, right?

Re: Drones Tracking Americans. Thoughts?

I actually think my idea is more likely, Phill thinks his is.

I'm uncertain of a timeline, but I think WHEN armed drones are flying over US skies, they will be modified to fire less lethal munitions and utilized by LE, rather than being armed with missiles and used by the military.

But no, other than some internal rumblings amongst the SWAT operators at various conventions, I've heard little of Armed Drones, and seen nothing in the press.

Phil is the "well drones spying on you is no different than police helicopters all over the place, what's the big deal?" guy, so I'm not sure why he'd have a problem with armed drones. After all, it's no different than a cop spraying you himself with tear gas, what's the big deal?

lol are you really comparing the costs and capabilities of a standard, run of the mill aerial photography helicopter to a US military drone? and coming to the conclusion that the costs and capabilities are the same? If so, that is the fail.

Capabilities are the same. Costs are less. Technology saves government money = yay, no?

lol at the thought that LE budgets would decrease when they buy drones.

The costs are so much less that within a couple decades they will be able to monitor every citizens every movement, and incapacitate any citizen on command. That is essentially omnipotent power for the government, which is dangerous for obvious reasons.

Re: Drones Tracking Americans. Thoughts?

I'm no drone expert but this sounds a bit fanciful.

I'll go along with "incapacitate" but I'm skeptical of your "monitor all citizens all the time" idea.

Lol @ drones firing rubber bullets. Unexploitable unless you have a garbage can lid.

Well that's the thing, as I said earlier, this data is already "out there", they just need a way to store and sort it to make it meaningful. Drones would add nearly zero capability for the government to "monitor all citizens all the time" beyond what they already have.

Yeah I overstated that. If you're already in a total fascist nazi state though, drones would certainly help make any resistance near impossible.
