If Inso0 is very involved in construction he should understand this. Construction workers generally can't use public transportation because they're traveling to lots of different places and carry a lot of stuff and they live and die by being able to keep their vehicles operating. A stretch without work often means not being able to get to work for the next job. Employing construction workers often involves fronting or just giving them money to fix their cars if you want them to be able to show up.

What the hell are you even talking about? Of course construction workers maintain a personal vehicle.

"Hold the bus guys, I just gotta load my generator and miter saw. Can you give me a quick hand with all these totes filled with my M18 set and consumables?"

If you read the series of posts a little more carefully I'm sure you'll understand my point. You have to read the post I was responding to in order to know what "this" referred to in my first sentence.

Re: Dear Black Lives Matter Supporters and Black People in General.

I must have blacked out during the part where I **** on public transportation as an overall concept.

I do remember the part where I harped specifically on the hundreds of millions of dollars that will be spent on a 2 mile track for a streetcar for a city that has no use for it.

It most certainly won't help any black people, who are the subject of this thread. It's surrounded by highrise buildings filled with exceedingly expensive condos and apartments, the residents of which already have a car tucked safely away in their underground parking structures.

How many hundreds of thousands of trips to work for poor people could that money have paid for?

Milwaukee's downtown had a streetcar decades ago. It was ripped out for a reason. Nobody used it, and buses are far more efficient and flexible. But since the feds marked this money specifically for a "rail" project, we're bringing it back, and Milwaukee area taxpayers are footing a majority of the cost just so we can avoid giving that $47M back to DC.

But keep on supporting nonsense like this just because the major sponsors are democrats. Good little soldiers, you are.

Re: Dear Black Lives Matter Supporters and Black People in General.

I have little interest and no say in Milwaukee's street cars. I know the same thing was said about LA's light rail though and it has grown to be very useful. Also LA had its streetcars ripped out and it wasn't for good reasons. So, I'm skeptical of your description, but it's not impossible that Milwaukee's streetcars are a boondoggle that people won't ever use.

Therein lies the problem with the old fashioned 2+2 pile-on. Einbert talks out of his ass, someone backs him up, and suddenly you're lumped in with the rest of them because you weren't paying close enough attention when you added your two unrelated cents.

No, I'm right. It's the red vs blue mentality that allows crap like this project to move forward.

The Mayor wants a physical legacy. The council want the federal funds. The contractors want the guaranteed work. The conservative voices in Milwaukee don't want to piss away hundreds of millions of additional dollars in a city that's already a tax hell. The voice of opposition from republican rank and file is strong, and the democrat base rallies behind their leaders not because they've actually rubbed a few brain cells together to consider the merits of the project, but because "their side" is under assault by the mean red guys.

When republicans pull stupid **** like handing billions of dollars to farmers to keep subsidizing ethanol, I'll be right there with you telling them to knock that **** off.

None of the people here who support public transit projects give half a **** about the mayor of Milwaukee. The idea that we're posting here out of some kind of loyalty to some dumbass we know nothing about might be the first conclusion your brain jumps to because that's how you operate, but we like public transit on the merits, not because of whichever dip**** drew up the plans. Get your garbage assertions the **** out of here.

Well this project has no merits, so we're back to blindly supporting it because... reasons?

Should probably just stop now and blame rainbowdoge for the derail.

I had no idea if the mayor of Milwaukee was Dem or Republican or which party supports or doesn't support the trolley.

Also, don't wave your racist juju totem in my direction. If you have a problem with black people, that's on you. I was a recipient of public assistance at one point, and am largely a big fan of the concept. However, not so much when people actively choose to make it a way of life. Professional leeching comes in every color of the rainbow. Still, I'm way more upset about my tax dollars going to fund ridiculous things like ripping up perfectly good Milwaukee city streets to install a trolley that nobody will use than I am about public assistance for poor people.
I'm gonna need a judges' ruling but I think the point still stands regardless.

Inso0, look back to the manner in which this thread was bumped. Look at your puppy love connection with the bumper.

Considering that, answer me this: when Jesus went HAM in the temple and threw out the wicked moneychangers and merchants on their asses, was he the bad guy in that story?

Re: Dear Black Lives Matter Supporters and Black People in General.

Socialism was very powerful in Milwaukee in the early 20th century. What destroyed it? When the Great Migration happened and many black Americans moved to Milwaukee (circa 1950s), they were shuttered into basically a crime ridden ghetto in North Milwaukee. The socialists were pro-Civil Rights, but they did nothing. They allowed this stuff to happen, and then they lost power in the 1960s. Socialism was incredibly powerful in that area in the early 20th century, and now Scott ****in' Walker is in charge because of racism and xenophobia over everything else. It's criminally insane.

But yeah if you ever wonder why NYC or your local big city has ****ty public transit, thank your local Inso. They get super worked up over trolleys, but it's not a racist thing, oh no. Not at all. Has nothing to do with race whatsoever.

Re: Dear Black Lives Matter Supporters and Black People in General.

Public transit is a great example of the kind of thing the Sewer Socialists were all about. Municipal water, municipal power, better infrastructure, which meant good jobs too, and they were for labor rights. There were definitely divisions along racial and gender lines, pretty harsh lines sometimes. Not all socialists were pro-Civil Rights. But yeah, that's the whole thing. Democrats do need a positive powerful message. Investing and redesigning major city public transportation systems, in the cities that really need it, could be a great boon for everybody. But when you have a critical mass of racism and xenophobia in an area, you can get a union-busting brickass like Scott Walker elected and let me tell you, he has VERY effectively crushed labor in that state. They are basically powerless at this point. And inso, a person who by his very nature of not being in the Owning Class, relies on the solidarity struggle to survive, is willing to toss his own labor rights to the wind as long as he can get high on Republicanism (TM) for a few minutes every few years.

Re: Dear Black Lives Matter Supporters and Black People in General.

Good News! Trump will not last a year! His heart will give out. He obviously cannot handle the criticism. His recent tweet about Mika Brzezinski drew bipartisan condemnation. He had a good week going & then goes & shows his ass.

On top of that, he's got people like Lindsay Graham [R] Senator SC, saying stuff on t.v. like: "Why do you think the president is colluding with the Russians? He can't even collude with his own Congress."

And Krauthammer, a loyal conservative, who never passed on the chance to scold Obama, will not defend him. In fact, he ridicules him in his own intelligent way.

And what has he accomplished, other than sign a bunch of EOs eliminating Obama's EOs & mistakenly giving Brannon authorization to sit in on national security briefings? I'm surprised he didn't sign an EO resubscribing to all the spam mail deleted from POTUS' computer.

Oh wait, he did do away with Michelle Obama's signature achievement concerning healthier food in schools. But even that was watered down, with the bill identifying tomato as a vegetable.
And yes, I know the 9 pinheads on the SCOTUS at that the time ruled tomato as a vegetable, but that was solely for import taxes to help out the U.S. growers. And a fruit is a fruit, no matter what SCOTUS says.
The effects will mean tastier, less healthy school lunches -- more salt, less quinoa.

I've been eligible to vote since 1972 & there has never been 2 more horrid choices for president than the two we had this time around. Even if there was no email scandal. And, once again, the voters reelected over 90% of the incumbents vying for reelection, despite a 20% approval rating. Go figure.

Maybe cops shouldn't have declared war on the populace? No one cares when 1 cop is killed for every 1000 people that cops kill.

Huh maybe I missed it, but have the cop killers already been declared to be acting in self defense? Did the DA decline to bring charges? Did the Grand jury decline to indict?

guess i'm a massive POS too, because i dont give a **** either. there is no way "justice" won't be served to the killer of that police officer, unlike the countless officers who murder black men over some bull****, cover it up, and then never face any criminal consequences

the dude has been arrested and is about to go to prison for the rest of his life at a minimum, guaranteed.
