watching the testimony videos I found when I searched youtube with "comey obstruction" makes it clear he will have no smoking gun. he has already cleared Trump in his previous testimony. nothing burger coming.

Fortunately, for truth's sake, most of us are smart enough to look at more than just the first right wing results of a single specifically-worded Google search.

CNN source is saying as early as next week too, and that he's going to confirm that Trump pressured him on the probe.

I think it would be interesting if someone asked Comey (maybe an hour into the hearing) to recall the events of the hearing to that point....the questions that were asked and who asked them, and what his responses were. It would serve as a test of his recall ability. If he nails it, its not going to look any better for Trump.

Almost certainly they leaked Dem emails in an attempt to sway the election. There may have been clandestine involvement with the Trump campaign. What that would mean is unclear but could be, for example, a quid pro quo where Trump got Russian support (or Russia agreed not to release compromising material) in exchange for policy concessions. "Russian support" could mean something like Trump being supplied with illegally obtained oppo research, or given social media support, or whatever. We have no idea whether that happened or not, which is why we need an inquiry.

I'm not as concerned about the election meddling, though they tried to "expose" one side, had a troll army, worked through wikileaks, allegedly "explored" state-level voter information, etc.

However, I'm more concerned with tilting US policy toward Russian interests in exchange for potential financial or other favors, or based on blackmail. In my mind that's borderline treasonous and the reason why the Constitution has an emoluments clause in the first place.

Even a slightly vindictive Comey can tilt the **** out of Donald Trumpsky next week. Like the whole "helping Trump win the election made me mildly nauseous" thing. For example:

"I didn't report obstruction in the beginning because I felt the president was just ignorant about how life works in Washington, and thought I could take him under my wing and teach him. Once he showed me he wasn't capable of learning how to behave properly, I started telling others the story."
