The value ikes(and people like me too, except i'm going with law not medicine) is getting (doctorate and the ability to generate wealth throughout his life) is far greater than the taxes he is paying right now.

When Rahm was elected he stated that the CTU was out of touch and stood in the way of education reform.
When, in 2011, Rahm went to the state legislature to increase the voting requirements to strike for CTU.
June 2011, Rahm appoints the school board (they are not elected in Chicago, Rahm appointed them) they revoked the 4% raise that was in their contract. The same raise they are offered (it is not a 16% raise, it is a 4% raise per year for four years.) to take the 30% increase in hours.
To be fair both sides have been very aggressive during these past two years. Rahm openly disrespectful to the CTU and the CTU has been aggressive in their calls for a strike.
