The kid doesn't appear to have much conviction, and, while he has been indoctrinated early, may be able to be rescued from them.

The police were doing exactly what they were supposed to at a peaceful protest. They have such a history of showing their asses, however, and doing unethical/illegal things, that when they just do their jobs, it warrants notice.

I do not sympathize with these guys. But I definitely think larger trends in society are enabling some measure of deepening right-wing radicalization. 'Useless' feels harsh but I think is ultimately the right word. One thing you recognize when you read popular history going back basically forever is the idea that one universal thing everyone believed, from the imperial era China to the Romans to the Church during the Middle Ages to political leadership in democracies during the Great Depression -- was that a bunch of basically idle, useless men without much to do had great, destructive capacity for the rest of society, were candidates for political radicalization that would upset the status quo, and it was the state's (or the church's) obligation to figure out what do with guys who weren't otherwise going to be elite contributors to society.

I feel like we're learning old lessons here.

I know you are aware, but there are downsides to spoonfeeding the entire population the same purpose that might be just as bad or worse than the idle youth. I guess the solution of the neo-liberal new world order is egoism or enlightened individualism, but imo that's not very compatible with human nature. And let's not forget that many of these disaffected males, either gamergaters, neo-neo-Nazis or Western ISIS recruits, are educated and upper middle class. They are supposed to have a sense of purpose in modern society.

But what do we do with these people? Just giving them money won't work; they'll still be losers that can't get a date.

It's good to make fun of these people for not getting laid, but I suspect having children is a much better cure of misanthropy and nihilism for disaffected young(ish) men than the getting laid part. Maybe that brings us back to the old time religion.

Trump got elected mostly by old racists. They are a problem. More worried about their impact then young sexless gamer kids who dont vote much.

The Wage System requires structural unemployment to do it's evil. That means a significantly large % of peeps will always want and need a gerb, but won't get crated. Regardless of how "useless" these peeps are. For as long as we suffer under the Wage System. Woman folk are more easily absorbed into unwaged labor (home making, child rearing, etc) or degraded sex work. A lotta men folk are in fact too "useless" for sex work y/o simply not willing to do either.

The traditional ways capitalism has dealt with this problem that capitalism itself causes are, as mentioned, (a) the Prison Industry Complex, or (b) kills them off as cannon fodder.

The proper way to address this problem is, of course, organizing the unemployed into a union. Which, if fact, has a long history of success both world wide, and in the US.

How is an unemployed union a departure from the wage system? Seems like still petitioning the capitalists for succor, just on better terms.

One things liberals need to do a better job of pointing out is that the "whites will be a minority stuff" is greatly exaggerated.

On a census, if an Asian person and a White person have a kid, it is not considered white, while on first glance nearly everyone would consider the kid to be white.

Also, black people should stop using the word "bae", that has to be a driver of racism. (this is a joke)
