Helping people not have children before they're ready seems like a pretty massive societal good to me.

Fact, forcing catholic business who hire non-catholic employees does not violate any catholic laws or teachings. Just because you cover for contraceptives doesn't mean that you have to go get them or support them. There is no reason whatsoever that religious employees should be exempt from covering the same exact things as non-religious ones. This isn't devil worship.

What about the "If you like your plan, you can keep it". Clearly the Catholic hospitals, charities an other entities liked their plans but are now mandated not to keep them.

To think that only "right wing" Catholics are not going to be fond of the idea that the church is being forced, by Obama, to pay for abortion pills, is absolutely delusional.

This is unconstitutional and politically stupid. I gues it is BOs M O.

Has anyone heard of a woman that can not obtain birth control in America? With all the problems in our countries health care system, only the real leftists think that forcing religious organizations to provide birth control and abortion pills is the top priority.
You realize it isn't all just the cost of the pill. It is a gesture of decency that a woman who works for an employer receives a health package that covers her life as holistically as a man's. Why should a woman receive less valuable remuneration from her employer because troglodytes are her employer. What is to stop every employer to say he got Jesus and lower the tab for employee health by excluding coverage?

If the churches are so offended why not actually be Christian and not offer insurance? If God wants you to die or get knocked up, you will. All insurance is is a statement saying you dont trust in God. But consistency was never a concern of so called Christians.

Do you realize Catholics aren't talking about the price? That this has nothing to do with money, and that the price issue, if anything, simply reinforces the fact that the government has no need to flex its strength and tell Catholics how they can operate their hospitals?

And to the dudes who were just bagging on RP... LOL... that's much more fun for you guys than actually defending Obamas fascism, I know, but you're conceding defeat by bringing him up because RP has no chance - so is simply not relevant ITT... DUCY?

But yeah, undeclared war? Assassinating juvenile Americans? Staffing his cabinet with Monsanto and Goldman Sachs vps and lobbyists? Expanding the police state and censoring the internet?

"But wait, wait! Look over there! That old white guy said something insensitive about rape! He hates women!!!"

Lol you guys, seriously.

Are you bat**** daft about employment these days? In most major metropolitan areas the largest non-government employer is the health care network. That network is usually near a monopoly. People have little option to turn to for employment, and hospitals are one of the few places who can't axe health Insurance. Plus, they are usually the largest part of a health policy grouping, and other people get stuck with their choice of plans.

If it makes the child molesters happy the government can simply withhold its socialist Medicaid Part A reimbursements enough to give everyone free reproductive health care. Voila!

First rule of Catholicism..........whatever a child molester in a cassock says is as much scripture as red letters in the bible.

Re: Barack Obama 2012 Containment Thread

After reading up a bit on the Catholic thing...this is one of those Obama WH moves that just seems like a political epic fail. I don't think it really hurts them badly in any way...but rather than talking about the improving jobs, or the payroll tax cut, or how Republicans are dumb, they will be stuck talking about why this is was so nec blah blah blah.
What votes does this win him really? For a guy who at times seems very measured and smart, how you political calculate that this is a +EV move in an election year is beyond me.

Kathleen Sebelius should really be shown the door as she seems to be a complete retard.

**** like this, NDAA, and the stupid reversal on medical mary jane, etc are why it will be so hard for me to vote for Obama again and will probably take either seeing how much more awful the opposition will be, or most likely voting for Gary Johnson instead if he manages to get on the ballot.

Only goes out of his way, in the state of the union, only to flip flop just two years later...

Seems really odd you think this is a terrible move. Like I said earlier ITT, I think some of you guys are just believing the right wing trope THIS IS THE BIGGEST THING EVER. Just because Sean Hannity and NRO and Peggy Noonan and Bill Donahue say something doesn't it true. Even if they all say it at the same time. Usually that kind of stuff manifests in polls. It just doesn't here:

Quote:
http://publicreligion.org/research/2...ing-poll-2012/

Nearly half (49%) of Americans say that religiously affiliated colleges and hospitals should be required to provide their employees with health care plans that cover contraception or birth control at no cost. Forty-six percent say they should not have to provide this type of coverage.

A majority of Catholics (52%) say that religiously affiliated colleges and hospitals should have to provide coverage that includes contraception
Now you might say the people that oppose it REALLY oppose it, but that cadre of voters is already totally in the bag for the GOP.

That this is SOME HUGE TERRIBLE POLITICAL MISTAKE has two classes of evidence:

- right wing bluster and hot air from the usual quarters affirming HUGE TERRIBLE MISTAKE END OBAMA 4EVER
- polls that say not really

I know where I'd place my bets.

If you're surprised by this flip flop then you trust politicians too much or you're just trying to score some cheap points. How can you expect him to not go the super PAC route when there are articles out there about how much money they're taking in?

So does Obama's new found love of Super PACs make him:

- a flip flopper

- a hypocrite

or

- both
