Re: Is anyone, like anyone at all, against gay marriage?

I just find its really difficult to implement on a national let alone international level, and its both a polarizing and distracting issue.

Given that the economy has collapsed in the nature of trillions of dollars recently and wars have cost hundreds of thousands of lives the value to society in having gay couples' marriages be officially recognized by the government is negligible.

And at the same time you are afraid, that the gays won't get into heaven and as a good Christian you want to help them. And I completely understand that people who think that way use the legislator to keep the gays away. I have much more sympathies for them than for example anti marihuana folks. Whom I mostly do not understand are "one issue gay rights" activists who vote democrat.

Having said that: what tom said.
I've never understood the bolded. I am married to my lovely wife. Let's say hypothetically that I have two gay next door neighbors who get married. What happens to me and everything I hold dear? It has zero effect on my marriage. No one has ever explained how my traditional marriage changes one iota if two gays marry.

Regarding the gays getting into heaven line... if that were true shouldn't christians be fighting rights to all other religious people? A Jew who doesn't accept Jesus won't get into heaven. Shouldn't it be an issue that Jews can marry? MAYBE they should be allowed to marry a Christian if they'll convert. Also... if two gay guys marry but still accept Christ into their hearts and are sorry for their sins, they'll still get in (at least that's what I was taught). The religious right isn't focused on making divorce illegal which is immoral and practiced by more people then there are gays. IF the logic above was true, its being unequally utilized towards gays...

in summary... at best their motivations are not being applied logically or consistantly... at worst its just complete illogical nonsense.

Gay people having fabulous weddings would be a big boost to some segments of the economy.

When in the last 10 years has been a good time? Should gays wait for 50-100 years if it is best for their nation?

I guess segregation should have waited. Vietnam was a trying time! Think of the Mexican cattle thieves of the 1873-1896. Susan B, you can wait 23 years for your country!

so, uhh, why not just do it?

anti-gay marriage people will lose because they have literally no argument. gay people getting married doesn't affect anyone else, so stfu and accept it.

the biggest threat to straight people will be added competition in booking venues for your weddings.

Apparently WWI should have deterred women from seeking the vote as well

I'd swear the last time this happened some people tried to make arguments against it, I just think they've all been banned for unrelated reasons, because well- being against gay marriage is a thing dumb people do and another one of those things they do is get banned.

That is what you think, that is not what a religious anti gay person thinks. What distinguishes him from a mum , who cries for anti-pot-laws, so that it will be easier to raise her child is, that his whole person, his believes, is morality etc. are involved in this. I kinda can honour this. I am not saying, that I think he should be able to use "the democratic process" to further his cause.

Yes, that is the scary part about people, who "want to help".

Re: Is anyone, like anyone at all, against gay marriage?

Why must the supporters of Gay marriage discriminate against chickens? If a chicken wants to be eaten as a Chick Fil A sandwich, its their constitutional right to do so. Boston and now Chicago and gay marriage supporters around the country are so insensitive to the rights of chickens, it makes me sad.

If you dare to venture into RGT, you can find plenty of people against gay marriage. Some won't admit that it's for religious or bigotted reasons, but when pressed that's really what it comes down to (except for those who just don't want government marriages at all).

The current thread there on this topic: What can you add without changing the meaning and context? (Chick-Fil-A)

And an older one: Anti Gay Marriage = Bigotry?

Yes because we need to further incentivise having children -_-
