Is anyone, like anyone at all, against gay marriage?

This board is dominated by libertarians and liberals I know, but I was just wondering if anyone had any reason whatsoever against gay marriage?

It seems to be the most ridiculous, contradictatory, position anyone on the left or right can hold.
Yet its advance is ridiculously slow.

Religious people, homophobes, and the politicians pandering to them?

Big gluite; why?
Regret you hit the nail on the head i think.
I just read this ridiculous article and didn't really think this post through.
I'd kinda like to see if any non-religious people have a way of making the argument, with sense, without being homophobic

One argument is that a traditional family with a mother and father is the best environment to raise a child in; having two mothers or two fathers is not awful but also not ideal. Of course if you think that is enough to ban gay marriage, you also have to ban straight marriage with post-menopausal women.

I could see people having a moral opposition gay marriage. Obv all depends on that persons beliefs, doesn't mean it's right though.

I'm against giving all those tax breaks for regular marriages. Give the tax breaks to children's guardians. Marriages with no children get no tax breaks.

You also need to ban gay people having children including when they are still in the closet because undoubtedly raising a child in a gay marriage is better than a gay common law civil partnership.

The "traditional marriage" term is just a dogwhistle and a smokescreen. It isnt an argument so much as a philosophy and a flawed one at that.

It is also not true. In a wide range of statistics such as education success of their children, gay parents actually do better than straight parents. This shouldnt be surprising, adoptive parents in general do better for pretty obvious reasons you can guess at.

Re: Is anyone, like anyone at all, against gay marriage?

im not agaisnt it for a simple reason, why do i care what people do in their onw private life, not my business.

i dont think its about gay marriage people who are against it in a sense, tho its only a supposition..

peoeple feeling on needing to integrate peoples like borgs do ( star trek) with their own belief in others, it bother them to have to see different life style of their own and so they opposing it, even tho they should just take care of their own business .

religious people i guess care about way too much thing that dont belong to them ( like all those paprazzi readers...)and try influence people to join their religion cult.

I think this is a reasonable position. But how would you vote on a proposal to ban gay marriage? Do you vote against it since that's closer to your actual beliefs? Do you vote for it since its unfair that some people get a benefit and not others? Just curious.

Not necessarily all religious people. I mean, gay people go to church, and have gay marriages in churches right? Or, has that never happened? I honestly don't know the answer to that question.
