As always, please note that the GOP is doing exactly nothing.

Iran couldn't wipe anything off the face of the planet. I certainly hope Russia doesn't. I think they like living, so they probably won't. Putin didn't steal $200B because he wanted to die along with everyone else.

President Trump's full remarks on the airstrikes.

He's a terrible reader.

Suzzer's theory in the other thread makes sense. Everyone warned and we destroyed a mostly empty airbase. That might be the best case scenario. I'm afraid we're headed towards a much broader war though. There will be more incidents and more reactions.

Anyone remember in the 80s the common Middle East devil World War III prophecies that were rampant.

Ah yes, the 80s had some great moral panics. This one woman who used to baby sit me thought that we were Satanists because we played DND.

Marcus Weisberger twitter is tweeting pictures of the missiles firing as well as the flight radar and satellite information justifying the strike.

Marco Rubio cheers, Rand Paul criticizes as unconstitutional.

Ted Liu criticizes s unconstitutional and illegal, Bill Nelson supports.

Reports of Salafi jihadis cheering the strikes and calling for exploitation

How much jerking off will McCain, graham, and sushy be doing tonight?

I'll bet they're mostly cheering it on, blaming obama for doing nothing, when obama asked them and they said lol no. Only a few will even bother mentioning that hypocrisy.

**** politics.

Quite a lot of deleted posts. The ones that remain are basically of the frame of mind of "I trust him. Wait and see"

I did notice that earlier in the day there was a linked article about Rand Paul's opinion about not getting involved that reached #1 on r/the_donald. There were A LOT of "if he gets involved in Syria, I'm out" comments. I checked back 10 minutes later and the entire post/thread was deleted.

I was reading the donald earlier to see how they were taking it and a huge portion of them were pissed.

Reports of 15 damaged jets, 1 dead (non-Russian) solider.

So what is the effect of the strikes? What was the damage done to military personnel, equipment, installations? Effect on the Assad regime's future ability to carry out strikes by air? I'm wondering if it will affect the outcome of the war in some meaningful way or was more of a warning.

He'll still be able to kick barrel bombs and/or chemical weapons off helicopters.

With all the talk about how Trump's low poll numbers weaken his presidency I've been surprised no one in the media pointed out they've also increased the likelihood Trump might launch a military action to raise them. This Syria strike will probably do just that but still no one in the media has mentioned the possible link. Maybe there is none and maybe it shouldn't be mentioned. I really don't know. If it were Obama you can bet Fox would be talking it up.

Seems like it was just a brushback pitch but who really knows.

I am pretty sure this idea of launching military action when flailing in the polls is not new. I am also pretty sure some people have suggested that he might do something like this even as far back as the primaries (part of him being unhinged) but of course that kind of viewpoint is not far and wide because it's not something that most talking heads are going to explore.

A little weak strike against one of Russia's allies (especially if it isn't sustained) could also be a great way to act like you aren't a Russian puppet.

All that said, I really don't think Trump is calling the shots here, especially given the things Hillary Clinton said today. You think he really changed his mind in a couple days about this? This meeting with the Chinese president had been planned for quite a while as well.
