The Well: shipitkthx

The Well:

A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says "On any day except Wednesday, you can shout any question down that well, and you'll be told the answer" .

The stranger shouts down several questions, and all are answered. The stranger is impressed, and after thinking a minute he shouts down: "Why not on Wednesday?" and the voice from in the well shouts back "Because on Wednesday, it’s your day in the well".

We're re-opening the concept of The Well in Sports Betting and shipit has volunteered to take the first turn. If you are interested in taking a turn in the well, or if you want to nominate someone, feel free to post in this thread or to send me a PM.

If you're new and completely unfamiliar -- any question goes, as long as it doesn't break the ToS. Of course, shipit can always elect not to answer, but you're free to ask whatever as long as you're not breaking the rules or tone of the forum.

You can get a good sense by reading some of the previous instances, listed at the end.

Played poker full time for several years. Friend of a friend was into sportsbetting for a long time. Sparked my interest and I started working on sports near the end of 2007.

Just poker atm.

There are enough +ev opportunities that require very little work for small bankrolls. In fact its probably a lot easier to build a smaller bankroll without putting in as much work b/c you can make significant jumps in terms on bankroll growth while still remaining under the radar of small books (you won't get banned very fast).

Don't remember any off top of my head.

Humility. As hard as that is to believe. Most of my success has come from the fact that I didn't look at sportsbetting and immediately think "hey I can cap NFL games better than people doing it for decades." This seems to be the epic fail of 99.999999999999999% of sportsbettors.

My time management is pretty poor.

Azn.

Can't really think of anyone who I would classify as "underrated," I think the real sharps here all know who the others are...its really not hard to tell.

I came up with brilliant idea to overbet huge on an NBA line last season, it was scalpable at the time I really thought it was gonna move even further. Obv it didn't and I had to sweat out 10% of bankroll on what ended up being a coinflip at close. (It won)

Meh, no idea.

Lol not sure I know anyone with the self-control Perf has regarding the ban stick.

$5 Million, significantly lower if there is zero chance of buttrape, significantly higher if there is >50% chance of buttrape.

Surf and turf at a place that actually knows how to cook Lobster.

What constitutes a "small" bankroll as you use the term above?

I think about 10 right now and I'm planning to load another 2 or 3 this weekend. I've gotten banned, had limits cut to useless amounts, or been put on 30 second+ delay by at least one book every week since football started.

Why would you be put on a 30 sec delay unless you are moving for a betting syndicate?? If you are which one??

what % of your bets are 1st/2nd halfs/quarters as opposed to full games??

what % of your bets are college/NFl?

They put me on delay for steam chasing. Pretty standard procedure by a lot of books. I mostly bet derivative markets, although not as many halves/quarters as I would like. I'm currently working on increasing the amount of quarters. For the last couple months i'd say 90%. However NHL and NBA are my best markets and with them starting the % of football will drop a lot.
