duke, why has boise been so amazingly good for so long?

haven't look at things much but 2 situations i am verycurious about as leach at wsu and davie at new mexico. thinking maybe UNDER for NM. games. davies had good d's and pretty poor offenses at nd. alot of running too. takes alot of time off clock

regarding UNLV that someone asked about. seems like classic university that should be good. how hard can LV be to sell to academically challenged texas and cali football players? should be a big turn one day with right coach but been waiting awhile.

maybe though unlv has higher academic standards than i think, being #1 or #2 university in a state

Lol I highly doubt it given some of the knuckleheads that have come through their basketball program in recent years

I think Tark got a kid who was legitimately retarded into school there. Lloyd Daniels was it?

hahaha good old lloyd daniels. that was a little while back but a great example nonetheless. IIRC they said his reading level was that of a 10 year old when they got him into unlv. He was too much for even Tark to handle. The guy could really play tho

absolutely my first reaction is that unlv is not a good school but that lloyd daniels was a long long time ago and could have been special admissions. big state schools that are undoubtedly excellent academically have let in some pretty poor students as football and basketball players.

could be wrong but i would guess unlv has improved a ton in the last 2 decades

re: WEEK ONE!!11!1!1!111!! College Football 2012

I wrote a computer program to scrape matchups and odds and a bunch of statistics from various sites on the internet. I then apply a bunch of algorithms to the data to try to find matchups where it looks like the line is interesting. At the end, the program just prints out the results. Not much analysis on my part. I did the same thing for the NBA last year and was 65% over the season. Yes I know... small sample size, etc, but it was fun.

Anyway, this week's college picks are:
Colorado State +6.5 vs Colorado and
Boise State +6.5 vs. Michigan State

If you all want me to start a new sweat thread for this so I don't derail this thread from people with actual knowledge, let me know.

Thumbs up re: WEEK ONE!!11!1!1!111!! College Football 2012

I took Vandy +6 for a sweat tonight, did no research other than seeing 68% of ppl were on SC and Vandy is a home dog. Just saw on PTI that Aaron Rodgers' brother is the Vandy QB, I can't lose

Might fade the public and take Vandy. Everyone is smashing that line. Vandy has a good coach and is at home. Almost all their home games were close last year.

Can we get a week 1 up in the thread title? We're going to need a new thread every week. At least, we should for the football.
