So today I came across a friend who told me that a friend of his was into this thing called 'court siding'. Probably you guys heard about that but it is basically being in the court betting in advance on what's happening due to the seconds it takes to update the markets.
Now, first of all, how legal is this? Cause I don't seem to find much about it.
Also, I never bet on tennis, but does it also have the 10 sec confirmation box before effectively betting (like soccer) or is it instant? And how much should the time difference be between the moment there is a point and the moment the markets scoreboard updates?
People will give you **** but live betting at games is definitely a thing. I've done it at several basketball games, if you're quick and time it right you can get bets in while a shot is going through the net. Won't pretend to be knowledgeable on the tennis front but I've heard stories about guys betting point to point live, have to imagine that if you do it too much in succession and it'll get you noticed and banned pretty quickly.
The case was laughed out of "court" and I think that the defence had their expenses paid as the law that they used was about rigging sports events. However, if you try this using a phone or laptop you will be ejected quickly and possible hassled. These guys were playing on a betting exchange, there is virtually no chance you will make any money vs actual bookmakers.
