Submit interest in thread so I have an idea for numbers

$100 Entry, winner take all (multiple places paid if 10+ entrants)

I'll escrow like I did last season, or someone else can if everyone prefers that.

Season starts June 11, so all teams must be submitted by then

Congrats to TheChronicLS for winning last season and the $800 prize.

Same rules scoring wise as last season for now, although teams are to be submitted to me anonymously (don't post them in thread), and i'm changing the seeding system slightly. Still working out specifics, let me know if you like my idea or not and submit suggestions. Worst case we use the same system as last season.

You can't select a team yet as we haven't finalised selection criteria, but please submit interest in thread if you want to submit a team.

I've roughly ordered the players by strength for seeding later, any thoughts on anyone being way too high/low?

I'll have a finalised structure by the end of the week at latest.

Basically, i'm thinking something like select 3 of the top 10 seeds, 3 of the middle 10 seeds, 3 of the bottom 10 seeds

After teams have been selected, each team can draft one more player out of the unpicked players that weren't selected by any teams and the two seeded players added to the player pool (likely international players)

I think the only problem here is if Stephano or some Korean players get seeded then everyone will want him, all other international players should be pretty balanced with unpicked players.

Alternatively, I could seed the 30 players into equal-skilled groups of three, then everyone anonymously picks one player from each of the ten groups of three to form a ten player team, then if there are unpicked players they're added to the pool with the two international players and everyone gets to make one more selection

In any case, submit interest for now, and we'll settle on the specifics of team selection and scoring within the next few days.

Finally, we could do it the same as last season with eight seeded players and a max of three per team from that list, although that led to a lot of teams looking really similar last season.

Personally i'd prefer the 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, etc format with 10 groups of 3 players and each entrant selecting one player from each group of three for a 10-player team.

Format discussion will last until June 1; after this date a format will be finalised and teams can be submitted.

I'm in again. gotta defend that title, right?

I think both your ideas are fine, personally I'd rather have the 10 groups of 3 but it might be a little bit harder seeding players compared to the 3 groups of 10.

it only has to be unique enough that the teams are clearly unique and all three players are pickable in each group

we'll go with that as the provisional format, let me try and come up with some suggested groups

when the two seeded players are announced, i'll allow players to sub in one or both of them for any of their top seven picks i think should do nicely

So far we have the following sign ups

SwoopAE
Walchy
Xaston
TheChronicLS
Jonathan Wu

Thoughts on these groups? Any of them too one-sided where everyone will pick the same player? A lot of them are interchangeable strength wise but I feel most groups are relatively balanced. Perhaps we'll go with 11 player teams - one from each group, plus everyone gets one 'leftover' pick between the two seeded players and every player that isn't picked by any team?

Note these groups are not finalised, i'm just opening it up to suggestions for balance

Mind giving your thoughts on the new proposed structure?

Good to see we have a few new players interested

Points wise, scoring should be the same as last season, we're just mixing up the selection rules to hopefully maximise team uniqueness

Ok, finalising the selection criteria as follows

Teams consist of 10 players

One from each of the following groups

Group 1

Mvp
Marineking
DongRaeGu

Group 2

Genius
PartinG
HerO

Group 3

Squirtle
MC
Oz

Group 4

Leenock
NesTea
SuperNoVa

Group 5

TaeJa
GuMiho
GhostKing

Group 6

NaNiwa
Keen
Curious

Group 7

Sniper
TheStC
Maru

Group 8

GanZi
Symbol
Happy

Group 9

Creator
Ryung
Seed

Group 10

AcE
Line
YuGiOh

When the seeded players are announced, players can sub in up to one of the two seeded players for any of their top picks from groups 1-8.

I'll be PMing my team to Walchy as soon as I open entry for teams and he will post it in thread after I have posted all of the other players picks when the deadline hits (June 11)

You may now start to submit teams (or you can wait until the groups are announced if you prefer)

Scoring is the same as last season - ro32/16 is 5/4/1/0 for your placing within the group, then 6/8/10 points for winning the quarter/semi/grand final.

My team has now been submitted (pending substitution of seeded players if I choose to once they're announced) so you can submit your team to me via PM when you choose to.

All escrowed funds will be collected on June 10, you don't need to escrow yet to submit a team.

Doesn't Walchy theoretically get all of the theoretical edge of the people who picked teams later last time around, unless his team is somehow locked in before everyone starts sending him theirs?

Not that there will be any way to get an edge on my GTO picks of players but I'm just looking out for everyone else. Except a theoretical unfair edge gaining Walchy I guess.

I`m in I dont really care what the format is. But if possible do it without seeded players.

I would like to pick all the people I root for.

theoretically from a theoretical perspective, yes. it would be ideal if he could lock in his pick but im not sure how we'd do that. either way me and deoxy are splitting a team and will send money within the next few days. we already have our team down and the rest is gg

No, everyone else is sending their teams to me via PM and I don't post them until we lock out entry

I sent my pick to walchy to lock it in advance so that I don't get a theoretical edge.

@Nisash We could do an open selection but then we'll likely end up with everyone picking 7-8 of the same 10 players at a minimum given everyone will want MVP Marineking Leenock DRG Parting Squirtle MC Hero Genius Nestea or some similar team given they're universally considered the ten 'best' players or whatever - think about it, would ANYONE pick a team not containing 7+ of those guys?

The idea of seeding here is to basically make ten groups of relatively evenly skilled players and allow everyone to pick their favourite players for the most part while keeping all of the teams relatively even

You've picked a 10 player team using my seeding system right? Just confirming.

If everyone wants open picks thats fine but it'll lead to less team uniqueness which is what we really want
