I think both your ideas are fine, personally I'd rather have the 10 groups of 3 but it might be a little bit harder seeding players compared to the 3 groups of 10.
it only has to be unique enough that the teams are clearly unique and all three players are pickable in each group
we'll go with that as the provisional format, let me try and come up with some suggested groups
when the two seeded players are announced, i'll allow players to sub in one or both of them for any of their top seven picks i think should do nicely
