re: Starcraft 2 Betting Thread

Doesn't Walchy theoretically get all of the theoretical edge of the people who picked teams later last time around, unless his team is somehow locked in before everyone starts sending him theirs?

re: Starcraft 2 Betting Thread

Not that there will be any way to get an edge on my GTO picks of players but I'm just looking out for everyone else. Except a theoretical unfair edge gaining Walchy I guess.

I`m in I dont really care what the format is. But if possible do it without seeded players.

I would like to pick all the people I root for.

theoretically from a theoretical perspective, yes. it would be ideal if he could lock in his pick but im not sure how we'd do that. either way me and deoxy are splitting a team and will send money within the next few days. we already have our team down and the rest is gg

No, everyone else is sending their teams to me via PM and I don't post them until we lock out entry

I sent my pick to walchy to lock it in advance so that I don't get a theoretical edge.

re: Starcraft 2 Betting Thread

@Nisash We could do an open selection but then we'll likely end up with everyone picking 7-8 of the same 10 players at a minimum given everyone will want MVP Marineking Leenock DRG Parting Squirtle MC Hero Genius Nestea or some similar team given they're universally considered the ten 'best' players or whatever - think about it, would ANYONE pick a team not containing 7+ of those guys?

The idea of seeding here is to basically make ten groups of relatively evenly skilled players and allow everyone to pick their favourite players for the most part while keeping all of the teams relatively even

You've picked a 10 player team using my seeding system right? Just confirming.

If everyone wants open picks thats fine but it'll lead to less team uniqueness which is what we really want

Swoop, Your Format is excellent. I am enamored with the idea of picking from groups.

re: Starcraft 2 Betting Thread

Received a team from Goldenad

Will be taking stars, moneybookers or paypal for funds, not collecting yet though will do a bit closer to the date

I'm going to allow everyone to modify their teams via PM until 48 hours after the groups are announced, on the off chance that four of your chosen players are drawn to the same r32 group or whatever

If there are a sufficient number of unpicked players, I will also allow everyone to draft 1-2 more players to maximise team uniqueness and ensure the max number of players are drafted to at least one team. If this happens, i'll select my extra player first via PMing it to walchy, then announce the players that everyone can select from that have not been picked. Hopefully this won't be necessary as all of the groups should be seen as relatively well balanced.

Other than that, format stands, and you may begin submitting teams.

48 hours after ro32 groups are announced i'll be ending edits to teams being allowed but you can change your mind until then just PM me if you need to modify your team.

I'm in if registration is still cool. Send payment info, I will make sure to send payment.

I think an interesting idea in the future (probably too late to do it for this season) would be to assign each player a certain value and then allow each person drafting to pick players equivalent to a certain amount of points or less. This would allow you to gamble and select a ton of lower ranked/expected players rather than taking all aces, or a highly specialized team of near all aces, but nearly no guys in the mid to lower brackets, or a blend of the two.

re: Starcraft 2 Betting Thread

Received a couple more teams today.

Remember, you can edit your team when the groups are announced for up to 48 hours but after that they're locked in

I'll be PMing payment info after the 48 hour period has elapsed after the groups have been drawn.

@BBK thats actually a good idea, I like it - the problem would be (as it was here) balancing it out so everyone doesnt pick the same team.

I'd like to see one or two more teams to see if the groups i've drawn are imbalanced, a couple players have been picked by every team so far including mine although there are also a couple groups where all three players have been picked too

If it turns out that all of the teams have 7+ of the same players basically we may need to redo the format or rebalance some of the groups where the same player has been picked by every team

That said I only have a sample of four teams so far, so if people wouldn't mind sending even a preliminary team of their preferences that can be edited later, it'll help me with tweaking the format if need be.
