Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

i dunno maybe should lay off the brianl hate

he recently lost his european job for being the worst handicapper the site ever had (-100 units over 500 plays) and his tennis mirage he created is crashing. he may be on the edge emotionally and may be a harm to himself and/or others.

i know sometimes its good to pile on because of the anonymity but I don't want to read any articles about him killing his wife and kids because they left him due to his delusions of grandeur

You might be correct, I remember being very pissed about that one and I pretty much never get mad about these things.

Rsig, somebody else in his position would see that they aren't so great at it. He still brags. So...yeah.

Besides, I was just having fun with the marlins thing. Not terribly harsh I thought. Never expected a profanity tirade based on the dumb marlins pic. Do you think I went over the line there?

Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

My sports betting bad beat story is a little unusual.

Sporting Index do a market called 'Multiple Injuries' where you multiply the amount of first half injury time by the second half injury time. Usually a mug market. I correctly reasoned that Bayern vs Cologne would be very feisty (podolski had made some comments and the matchups looked dirty) and whilst the booking markets didn't yield any discernible value, the line of 1.75-2.25 for 1st half x 2nd half looked very tasty indeed. I went for a fairly big buy with no much down-side.

Onto the match. The first half was mental. Bayern had a man sent off and there were multiple injuries. 3 minutes stoppage time. Now I figure the absolute minimum would be 3x2 or most likely 3x3 minutes or even 4,5 (as second half 99% has more stoppage time than first half). The second half continued in much the same vein. Tackles, injuries and most importantly, Bayern being 1:0 up but with ten men time wasting. There were 5 substitutions so it was impossible for me not to win.

Bayern scored in the 63rd minute (didn't matter) but later in the 88th, making the rest of the match irrelevant.

The referee blew up on 90 minutes which is crazy if you've watched any football.

I also sold goal minutes in this match. No bad beat, just crushed.

Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

had a decent amount of action on adam scott in the open. he was leading by 4 shots going into the last 4 holes (if i remember right) ended up losing obv.

I had southampton to beat portsmouth last season, portsmouth scored in the 94th minute (literally last kick of the game, arguably the ref should have blew up 10-15 seconds before they scored) was an absolute screamer from outside the box

Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

The two that stand out to me.

I had Gonzaga +13.5 (it may have been 11.5) vs. Arizona back when the Wildcats were a Top-5 team maybe in 1999 or 2000. The Zags are in a back and forth game for 40 minutes leading outright much of the game only to go to OT. Arizona goes up 8, Zags foul, up 10, Zags foul, up 12.....Richard Jefferson steals the ball and goes in for a windmill breakaway dunk as the buzzer sounds. Had to wait until after commercial break to see that i lost the bet.

I've got Central Florida +11.5 at home in a perfect trap spot against Auburn in 1997 or 98. CFU is winning with under 4 minutes left in the game when Auburn scores to go up 2. Three and out, Auburn returns punt for TD, up 9. CFU throws a pick-6 with 20 seconds to go and i lose the wager.

DUDE that sucks... I havent bet much lately but as a pirates fan i was watching this game... thought about what the rhe line was and how PISSED i would have been if i had the under cuz nobody could hit the ball let alone capitalize on their hits once they got them.

Most recent bad beat was this year Georgia tech i think i had em -10.. their opp scored to go down by prolly like 13 with 20 seconds left
Georgia tech just has to knee it and its game... They run a stupid option play, qb fumbles/pitches to nobody, opponent picks it up and walks into the endzone..

GT fails to cover -10

Whoever had that South Carolina game this year with that safety got screwed

NCAA Basketball, UConn vs Seton Hall

Take UConn -2.5

UConn is leading 60-57 when they are intentionally fouled with 3.3 seconds left. They get 2 shots and possession. Game over it seemed. They miss the first and make the 2nd. Now it's 61-57 and they have to inbound the ball.

Then UConn for some unexplainable reason decided to throw the ball backwards to the other end of the court, where Seton Hall catches it for an easy layup to end the game 61-59.

Here is a piece of the recap from espn.com:

"Freshman Roscoe Smith made two free throws for Connecticut with 19 seconds left for a three-point lead, and after Alex Oriakhi blocked Jeremy Hazell's 3-point attempt, Oriakhi added one of two free throws with 3.7 seconds left when he was intentionally fouled by Herb Pope.
"We were switching on everything and I had Hazell on a switch and I knew all they could take was a 3 so I got my arm up and blocked it," Oriakhi, a 6-foot-9 sophomore, said.
Connecticut retained possession but the ball was thrown away and Fuquan Edwin laid it in at the buzzer for the Pirates (10-14, 4-8), their only field goal of the final 8 minutes."

Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

2009 super bowl. Large play on the Cards first half +4.

Last play of the 1st half, cards on the 2 yard line kurt warner throws INT which is returned 102 yards for a TD. Literally stone cold only way the play does not cash.

I threw up a little but was able to hold it down

Re: Sports Betting Bad Beat Stories

That must have been the Most thrilling game of all time. I was on Stanford for a reasonable amount. As I was all season I still can't believe we covered after Luck throws the pick 6.

Oddly enough I can't really remember any ridiculous beats. Although I'm sure I've had some.
