BP paid all the players eventually.

Good points for future reference, and I'll never let a fact slip past me again. There is however a current slight difference between the 2. Betphoenix at least has a functioning website and has reportedly paid most everybody back (at least according to the cons in charge at sbr) after all their mess. Can't say the same for sbr's latest darling

Got a call from BetPhoenix last week. Rep claimed they were paying within 48 hrs of request. Riiight.

Sick. SBR mod Elihu Feustal A.K.A Justin7 is on that list. I guess he got paid though. These people are all crooks.
Justin posted at RTP today that he offered his resignation several days ago. No word as yet on whether it was accepted.

1) offer 1/2 points, big bonuses, some stale lines.
2) don't do too much to limit or shutdown sharps. end up with a decent portion of sharps.
3) become one of the better teaser outs for those sharps.
4) get absolutely destroyed in week 7 of the NFL on teasers (and hurt in week 8)
5) Financial backer realizes what's happened and knows it's better to walk away
6) Try to ride it out but never make a big comeback after the bath of week 7
7) hit the hills when it's clear new deposits will never catch up to what will be paid out.

My guess is sbr didn't make much money off of this. Course, they didn't lose nearly as much as they should have either. But, 'shoulds' don't count for much here.
I don't think the betislands guys made anything this year. My total naive guess is they ran off with nothing. They just got beat that badly.

well, that depends on how you look at it.

they shoooore tried to there at the end.

at this point, i'm not at all shocked when the 'sbr essentially owned betislands' thread starts up. i mean, they want to be bookmakers, they dangled the carrot to all the pros...

**** man. i'm not even mad about the money i lost. i don't think i had made a bet there in 2 weeks. i'm more mad at the audacity of everything.

they're right in shutting TFU, whatever lawyers they have are at least worth that much.

well, we've seen the way they ran their own book... any surprise at issues with a 'real' book?

at the end, they were trying to drum up enough deposits to cover the cashouts from sharps. Desperation.

More money in running an on-going book than taking the full bath and the after effects to their reputation.

Again, total speculation.

I'm basing this off of posts saying they lost financial backer ~6 weeks ago. Look at NFL week 7 and week 8 teasers played by 'sharps'. That isn't balanced action. BI got it's head handed to them those weeks is my guess and been scrambling to find a way out ever since.

couple things about sbr...first, they sure still are looking for screennames attached to old screennames. haha. no time for BI stuff, but when a previously banned poster makes a new account and posts twice, BOOM GET HIM. haha

also, something i've been thinking about while reading all those threads...do you think the reason they are closing ranks is more because of legal reasons (ie they know they could be liable) or because there's still one or two key links that they cannot let get out (because they know they could be liable)?

i just feel like there is something out there waiting to be found that will neatly tie everything together. justin7 probably has useful info i bet.

i recently posted following on sbr: http://forum.sbrforum.com/players-ta...l#post17224804

"i was in contact w/ j7 a few days ago in regards to sbr simultaneously stiff players out of millions by turning BI from B to F, while at the same time sneakily upgrade wagerweb from D to C (knowing full well they are as much if not more than Bet Island to pull a heist of this type); his resignation is more in conjunction that he does not want to be involved in the currnet downward obv spiral that sbr is in rather than this single BI case alone.

in my heart, i still believe he has more integrity than rest of sbr staff. and I am glad he's following his conscience and integrity on this path. i wish him luck post-sbr debacle, i know putting a project that you're so involved aside can be difficult, but what pt is there to continue w/ the project when results have been proven infeasible?

as far your current case load goes, just make any dispute w/sbr ranking c or above as book is in the right, then make rest as player is in the right. that's as far as lou/dozer/shari/john will ever take it anyways.

Right they paid the players and stiffed John. That's why they got downgraded and John hates them so much. Of course he also tried to extort them into taking winners off his sheet. Guess he didn't have that problem at BI.

I don't fully understand how affiliates work. What does that mean?

you're usually paid a percentage of net win/loss for everyone you referred. so if you refer 10 people and 5 are winners for the month and pocket 1k and 5 losers only lost 500 you wouldn't get paid. but if it was reversed you would get a % of $500 (usually varies depending on who you are)

for me, there's been a couple months on some sites where one guy won a big jackpot in the casino or went on a heater and wiped out all the profits for the month

good thing though is most sites don't require you to pay if you cost them money, it resets after a set period of time usually (e.g. if in march you cost them $500 in winners you would start april at 0) and those people who win those jackpots usually lose it all and more trying to get it back. some sites charge you for things like deposit/withdrawal fees, almost every book charges you for bonuses they give out

betphoenix didn't pay for like 5 months and then offered me < 1% to settle and never ended up paying me

Just like risgley says.

So if you have 100 kiddies at sbr that lose 1k each and one non-****** that makes 100k your balance is 0. John would try to extort books to take the 100k account off his sheet so he would get his 40% of the 100k lost.

Pinnacle has a package that will pay you instead of a cut of losses a very small percent of action.

People are saying John managed to have a deal like this with BI for the sharper players and get a cut of the losses from the losers. I can't believe anyone would be this stupid, but you never know with these morons.

you ccan tell how fair SBR is from how affiliate things are set up anyway

bookmaker sadly is the best book available for US citizens. instead they push ****** bc ****** will close all the sharp accounts and shift them to BM so they will keep more affiliate dollars

Thanks for the education!

Are there any blatantly obvious books that anybody cares to comment on that get a rating screw job or boost as a result of this? I always remember imstillben's battle with Walker over this where Walker came across as a scumbag pos as usual vs BP resulting in ben refusing to post there anymore because of the obvious crooks running sbr. Betonline's rating is the obvious one that seems pretty terrible

Checking out some threads at SBR, I thought posters with high post counts and longevity meant more experience...

GRADING ISSUE.. Win or Lose? I had weber state 2nd half -5.5 They covered this in OT. SHouldnt it be a win with 5Dimes.

Weber state outscored their opponent by 8, using OT as well.
How can someone with 4 years there not even know the answer to this?
