Re: Olympic betting thread

It's pretty hard to find the value in the Olympics especially without knowing some of the events in depth. Just having a couple of cheeky punts really.

There's still some thin value there, and I expect the line to keep moving. Like I said before, it's possible that was just a broken line they forgot to update. They still don't have a line for Gabby Douglas to win, even though she's arguably the favorite (and inarguably at least the second favorite).
Bovada has weiber at even money and Douglass at 5/2. I think both have an equal chance, so I'll be taking gabby.

Even money on us women to win gold. The team is so deep and talented, that seems like an easy bet to me.

Floor exercise they have raissmen at 6/1. Seems to be good odds to take on her. She is capable of doing an amazing floor routine.

I can't remember what they had Douglass at for bars, but it was good enough to bet her. Bars is her best routine, and she keeps getting better.

This is a happy by product of having my daughter on the team at one of the best gyms in the world. Two of the girls at her gym didn't make it at the trials last month. But after watching all the competitions with her, I feel pretty good about betting gymnastics in the olympics.

Re: Olympic betting thread

Some track cycling thoughts:

Laura Trott to win the Womens omnium - 2/1
Gregory Bauge to win Mens sprint/GB women to win team pursuit - 1/1

I also have other fancies, (Hoy for the keirin, france for mens team sprint, australia for mens team pursuit) but they are too close to call for me, as other countries have definitely caught GB and France up since 2008. I would avoid betting on Anna Meares though (especially in the sprint) she's still strong but nowhere near as dominant as 2 years ago.

Any one else got any thoughts on track cycling? Should be much more closely contested than 2008.

Re: Olympic betting thread

Blake +185 or better 200m.
Also shorting Bolt in 100m vs the Field. Gatlin, et al, could always surprise there. Start is so crucial.
