Some of them are absolute locks like David Rudisha for the 800m and USA basketball on the men's and women's side.

The only ones I am really worried about is Djokovic for tennis since he just lost at Wimbledon and Liu Xiang for the 100m hurdles I just kind of threw in there to double my return but I'll probably take him out.

I'm still waiting on the swimming lines to come out too so I can throw in Phelps for some sure victories. Any other absolute locks I can add in? I'm not too familiar with the other sports.
not to be mean, but the post is fairly worthless when you don't tell us what the bets are. "USA 1/10" doesn't mean anything. USA 1/10 what? Jamaica -275 what? Say what the bets are and you'll get better answers as to whether they are good or not.

Re: Olympic betting thread

Thoughts on these props for USA men's basketball?

Largest margin of victory for any game

Over 49.5 -123
Under 49.5 +111

Will the USA trail in the 2nd half of OT of any game?

Yes -145
No +131

I'm liking the under 49.5 and not sure on the second line.

USA's largest MOV in 2008 was 49 points against a crappy Germany team. The two worst teams they played were Germany and Angola. They killed Germany but only beat Angola by 21. Their group this time is seems pretty strong. Argentina, France, Lithuania should all avoid 40 point blowouts. Then Nigeria and Tunisia are the weak teams. If the 50 point blowout happens, it will likely be against one of those two teams.

Nigeria beat Dominican Republic to win a spot in London, who the US just schooled by 50+. That could happen to Nigeria, but probably not a favorite. No idea how good Tunisia is other than wiki says they are the 2011 FIBA Africa champs.

Sorry forgot to include that. USA 1/10 is for the women's bball team to win gold, 1/7 is for the mens bball team to win gold, -275 is for the Jamaica 4x100 team to win gold, Usain Bolt 6/5 is for the 100m Gold and Usaim Bolt -175 is for the 200m.

The rest are all Gold medal bets too for the athletes events.

Re: Olympic betting thread

OT: First day of a Diamond League meeting on Friday night in south London and Liu Xiang withdrew from the 110 metres hurdles final with a back injury. Aries Merritt won the final in 12.93 seconds.

I feel like 1/7 for the men's team doesn't leave any real value - there is a chance that spain can beat them. They're obviously huge favorites, but they aren't invincible because the rest of the world keeps getting better.

You can get a better line on the women's team. Pinny has them at -787 or about 10/79

Jamaica should be big favorites to win the relay, barring any mistakes. The only thing that makes me nervous is the inherent variance in the relay with mishandling/mistakes. But I think that could have some value, Jamaica does seem clearly the best team there.

The more I think about it, the 100m bet I like best is the 'no world record' bet. Bolt hasn't been running his same times, and does anybody think anyone else is going sub 9.6?

In general, I'm not a fan of stringing together huge favorites in parlays. I don't know enough about the rest to really say much.

Re: Olympic betting thread

The problem with Bolt is he seems lazy but he is talented. Im not talking about training but during races he will jog at the finish when he is winning and not go for world records when he has a chance to beat them on a good day or good surface. He actually lost to Yohan Blake in the 100m and 200m jamaica trials and it seemed like in the 200m trial he definitely let Yohan win.

He probably wont go sub 9.6 but the Olympics will be the one race where he actually does run his hardest. What sports book has a world record bet?

And yeah youre right relays have the most variance.

Re: Olympic betting thread

I don't know about Bolt in the 100 as Yohan Blake has been a force for Jamaica recently, and the winner in Jamaica's national championships in the 100/200
He's also younger and getting stronger every year

Re: Olympic betting thread

With the games approaching I'm surprised this thread is inactive! Do people dislike betting on the Olympics?

I'm making a bunch of little bets just for the hell of it, and I don't even bet on sports.

USA! USA! USA!
