where do you find such huge pools to get into?
I ran my first one this year for $50 and it had 105 players. It will hopefully grow each season. They are currently down to 6.

I also have a friend that runs one for $50 which had 1100 entrants, with winner taking $55k. He's been running it for 5 years now.

wtf, yahoo just revealed that 2 of the people in my league were on san diego. it's never done that before. pick deadline isn't until sunday at 1est, and i've never seen any thursday picks revealed before then. this includes bal in week 4, and pit in week 6.

glitch, or what's going on?

Never used yahoo but most other systems show Thursday games as soon as they start. This is good practice imo. Players want to know it is fair and can see picks while the game is being played. Otherwise could have someone in cahoots with admin, pick from Thursday game, if it loses - change the pick.

ya i get that but yahoo is not some sketchy system. pretty sure the admin is actually powerless in yahoo leagues.

Pitt will be too popular in week 10. San Fran with a huge win percentage and being used up in previous weeks makes it a pretty good spot for them. Besides, they won't be that much of a fave in week 12.

I had 80% of my pool on Houston so was cheering for Bills also, that 1st Half actually looked like Bills could take it!

4-0 this week with HOU (x2), SD & SEA. Only a handful of people eliminated with WAS & OAK but happy I lived to play another week. Next week is double picks in my $90k pool. That will thin out the field a bit.

bad timing on double pick week if you want a lot of people out, a lot of big home favs next week, but one of them has to go down eventually.

Down to 7 from 9. I'm going Pit next week.

Liking NE or SF for popular picks, Denver, Pitts or Colts for more unconventional picks but thats just at first glance will be checking out more in depth...

I don't have New England or Baltimore available so will look at San Fran or Pitt.

Pitt stronger of the two imo.

Anyone have any thoughts on how best to approach the last 8 weeks of a pool with good size prize pool ($90k). I have $90 invested with 3 picks @ $30 each.

143 left.

I have one entry remaining. So far I have used:

HOU, CIN, CHI, AZ, SF-NYG (double pick week), ATL, OAK, GB & SEA.

There are some big favorites this week and I have Dallas slotted next week with a home game vs Cleveland.

Double picks required this week. Rules also state double picks required in weeks 12,13,14 & 15 if a certain number of people are still alive. This is because this pool has a ton of entries- just under 3k (actually 2923) and the pool ends at week 17. Vig on the pool is "technically" 0% but as he states in his invite to the pool that 10% gift is the norm and I think most people give 10% of their winnings to the pool director for all the minutia he deals with. I would have no issue with 10% "gift" if I won.

DOUBLE PICK REQUIRED IF:

Week 12 - 100 left
Week 13 - 80 left
Week 14 - 50 left
Week 15 - 30 left

So my wife loves to give me free survivor pool advice and bang on my picks weekly. It's awesome having Wayne Root under the same roof. . I feel like you have to look ahead, abide by certain rules and obviously get lucky. I have gotten lucky with AZ at home vs Mia and Oak at home vs Jax. I also try to stay away from road games when possible. I have Pitt, NE & Balt available this week but would like to only use one of those big favs if possible and try to squeeze in Miami or TB this week if the risk is manageable. Is the best strategy to just deal with the current week (i.e. take the best two available) and worry about next week if you survive, or consider the weeks ahead and try to save teams if possible?

Three major things to consider:

1) win probability
2) future value
3) popularity

I can elaborate more tomorrow once you telk me what %'s of the 143 entires have each team available. For now, I would suggest BAL/MIA.

Thinking this is the best week to use Ravens prob for the rest of the regular season? Also, prob strongest week to use SF or Pitts but they do have lot more future value? Also, I don't think Ravens will be the most popular. My pool's down to 13 left. Still a bit concerned for the Ravens, are the Defense really ok without Lewis and other injuries?

9 Have SF left, 6 have NE left, all 13 have Pitt and Balt left but I think SF, NE will be the most popular.

Ravens are a very strong pick this week, at a glance this is the only renaining week to use them all season.

Pittsburgh will be the runaway popular choice. They sucked until only recently and had no good home dates until now, so everyone will have them available. Same cannot be said for BAL/SF/NE who have been used sporadically through the first 10 weeks.

Pittsburgh has little future value before week 16. And you have to discount it because small pools like yours are very likely to be over by then.

I can't see NE being popular with Indy on tap next week.

This pool is through my friend's work, bunch of amateurs who usually just take the most popular pick each week like a herd of sheep for the most part. I hope it's done by Week 16 but eliminations have really slowed down past 3 weeks, so I'm preparing just in case.

Pitts looks decent in week 12, 16 or 17 but there are much stronger picks in that week, all depends on how many are left in next couple weeks which I can't predict. NE if you look at it shouldn't be a popular pick but I expect a lot from this pool to take it seems they don't even look at some of the games they'll just see that and from Buffalo's past history, take it (kind of like a lot of auto picks against the Browns I've been seeing in marginal spots).

Most signs are pointing to Baltimore, but still not 100% decided yet. Any other options I may be overlooking? I have used Giants, Falcons, Vikings, Packers, Chargers.

If you expect the majority of people to be on Pittsburgh and New England, then Baltimore is a great pick.

10 left in one pool. Week 10 picks are:

Pittsburgh 6
Baltimore 3
San Fran (me) 1

Definitely lean SF if you're indifferent between SF and PIT.
