am i bout to get freerolled?

just watched the rose bowl coin toss, saw sparty defer to the second half, and then bet stanford -4 for the 1st half on bodog, which is the line that they've had up all day.

haven't cancelled it yet at 7-0 stanford..

Are the books gonna take obscure Olympic bets, like Shawn white +200, and shani Davis to win speed skating, coming up next month. Seems like a fun thing 2bet on, but I didn't have $$ on sprtsbooks last olympics, so I dont have this info.

Euro books offer these at LOL limits and limit you in <5 bets if you even seem to be vaguely savvy on them.

There definitely will be lots of action, but usually low limits. I recall watching rowing online in the last summer O, and the broadcaster was giving away so much EV it was incredible, but then again the limits were small.

hey guys,
I recently learned a little bit about sports betting while i happened to be learning regression analysis in school. i understand the basic concept but i dont know where to start.
I think i want to start out attempting to predict total scores(not picky about specific sports,) but i cant seem to find any free data online. Do all the good databases cost money? If so where should i go, i dont want to spend money on something that ends up being a flop. Id appreciate any advice anyone can give for me starting out.
Thanks in advance.

I recommend searching for books you can read.
I strongly recommend ignoring most of the touting around forums and the internet and not buy into people's guarantees and "locks". There are some other forums that can provide useful data, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention them though. I will for the sake of helping you (covers, espn, score, twitter, etc.)

I think you should do a mock trial first, since you're new to all this and keep track of everything in an excel sheet. If you do choose to sign up for a book, you should make sure you look into and understand the bonuses offered and the ones with the best ratings/lines available to you.

It's a grind.

2013 graph. What a crazy year. 5 losing months and a July that would make most people jump off a bridge.
Approximately 3380 bets, 1.8% ROI.

Nice November

Hi

Here is the example straight bet situation:

1/12/2014

San Francisco 49ers -3 (+110)
Carolina Panthers +3 (-130)

If I bet $10.00 on the 49ers, it says I will win $11.00. If the 49ers win by more than 3 points, that means I will get my $10.00 stake back + I will win $11.00 additional money, for a total profit of $11.00, right?

However if I bet on the Carolina Panthers for $10, it says I will win $7.69.

If 49ers are the favorite to win, why would I win less money if I bet on the underdog Panthers?
01-07-2014 , 06:18 PM
because you are not betting on the panthers in this scenario, you are in fact betting on the panthers +3 points

this means that you win the bet even if the panthers lose by 2 pts, or 1 pt. you also win your bet if they win the game. if the panthers lose by 3 pts you get your money back

the two sides (9ers -3 and panthers +3) are not equal odds because vegas thinks that the panthers should be getting slightly less than 3, but not such that the line should be moved to 2.5. they deal with this problem by making the odds on the panthers side shorter, and lengthening the odds on the 9ers side.

I'm doing a small modeling project and I need to get my hands on some basic box score data. (Actually, I just need teams and scores.) I don't really care what sport (NFL, NBA, NCAA whatever) and I don't care what year. Are there sites that have the data reasonably well organized and not that difficult to get at? I'm pretty sure I can write scripts to pull the data once I know where to look, so I don't need a pre-packaged CSV file (though if it's out there, it would be convenient).

I'm a little surprised that there wasn't some sort of link in the FAQ for this (having said that, I hope I didn't miss it).

signed up at ******, wasn't even gonna deposit right now, just on my phone and wanted to see a couple lines.

within I **** you not 3 MINUTES, I get two phone calls and an email. mail was the standard welcome stuff.

didn't answer the phone the first time and Luis in Miami told me anything I needed to call him on the voicemail.

LITERALLY before I was done reading the email and listening to his voicemail, he's calling again. *eyeroll* he kinda caught the tailend of my long day on some "god damn man you really gotta call me at 830pm when you JUST left me a voicemail??!? I'll call you when I deposit and see what bonuses you got sheesh".

you really gotta call me ~60 seconds after you left a ~60 second phone call??!?

they're relentless. same thing happened to me, I got a call from them every day, sometimes twice a day and they always leave voicemails. I finally picked up and yelled at them and they stopped.
01-09-2014 , 10:16 PM
yeah, I'm pretty good with making people like they leave me alone, I was just kinda baffled by calling back soooo quickly after leaving a voicemail and sending an email.

just looked, email at 822, call at 824 another call at 827 (after leaving a 48 second voicemail) and it was the same guy.

lol geez
