Can someone show me where I "bash newbs?" I like fighting with iowa calm sigly boot thremp (in the old days) etc., because its fun, theyre responses are usually entertaining and sometimes even contain a ricebowl or two, and its a challenge. I dont really think I "bash noobs."

I just joined the forum in December and have enjoy reading the posts that are on here and even contributing a little bit, although I am just a donk. The thing that I don't understand is why certain people have to treat others like ****. I go in certain threads and see a few posters (we all know who they are) writing mean-spirited things towards others who are trying to learn and it makes no sense. If you don't want to be helpful, then don't respond. The reason I come back on a daily basis is because of posters like Rickj and jdwarriors (sadly, no longer here). I am new here but havent seen these guys be anything but nice to people that ask them stupid questions. Rick gets asked ridiculous things all the time and he either ignores them or answers cordially, which should be the norm IMO. Not sure why people come on this to bash others, my assumption is that they are losers in real life

This has been address a million times before what the hell...

The way I see it theres two different types of "trolling." One is useful and one is not. When someone comes in here, doesnt read the FAQ and starts a thread like "hey I'm 75-20-2 this year here are my NFL picks" he will get trolled and bashed, as he should. The past-posting that goes on around here is absurd (I did it once in the teaser thread I will admit.)

So when a "noob" posts stuff like that, or in the other thread when some moron asked for advice about winning 1500 dollars on a site, took the advice and then did the exact opposite of it, people get irritated. Like someone pops into the wong-teaser thread, which is about 40000 pages long, and asks "is there a rule for which way to tease these?" Its like hes saying 'I dont feel like doing any work on my own I want someone to literally spoon-feed me this information.'

As someone who posts here fairly regulary its tiresome to say "sir youre posting in the actual thread that has any answer to any question you could possibly have about wong teasers, why dont you just take a look for yourself?"

To be fair, you're not really the nicest guy. You've given me crap quite a bit and I've seen you do it to others. I think you lump too many posts into the category that makes it ok for you to be an ass. Instead of making a point or correcting someone you resort to sarcasm and general mean behavior. You seem like a good example of people who don't want to exercise the common courtesy we expect of others in real life.

For example, when a poster asked me what I thought if Denver +14 you replied:
Instead of jumping on him like that, you could have looked around for a minute and discovered that +14 was available, making it a legit question.

Obviously, I've been guilty of it, too.

Regarding the picture of Henry I thought the general rule for 2p2 was that you're not allowed to post personal photographs of other members without their permission and that if they asked for them to get taken down then they would be.

Oreos, he has already asked and thus they were. If its posted 100 more times after that then he doesn't have to ask 100 times. We've already been through this over and over....and , to repeat, its not my freaking rule.

The clear intent of the recent posts was to be an annoyance and make me have to do stuff. I take exception to that. If you aren't intentionally trying to be a pain its kind of tough to have significant problems around here.

I really wish you guys could just put it as much as you wanted, have a good laugh, get it out if your system, then I would say to everyone that we can move on now. But I can't. And the pic of a guy who isn't even here in this forum anymore isn't even about him lately.

On top of that, the rest of 2+2 already had this argument like three years ago.

MB, I know your first reaction might be "loose regulation? lol." but this really is the best way here. The threads where arguments happen do often result in seriously good discussions. By being so strict you are not only killing such discussion before it can even take off, but you are creating a tremendous void of material because so many of the pithy Thremp-like posters are afraid to even post for fear of being banned. On top of that, the better posters tend to be the ones who get banned so the field just continues to thin. As bad as Thremp was, he still had net positive value to this forum. It really would be better if everything was much looser. Boot would be a great mod, but so could you if you listen to what everyone is saying.

Ummm, my moderation is pretty darn loose. I barely do anything around here and let so much go its not even funny. Just stop telling each other to get aids or otherwise being completely and ridiculously over the line and you're probably fine.

If you think otherwise then let me know when you think I'm being too strict. I'm perfectly willing to listen.

Here is what it comes down to.

The difference here is 2+2 universally was always held in a high regard for information. That's how the powers to be want it, no? The average intelligence of each poster is much higher here than Pocket Fives, or other poker forums. The same holds true for the Sports Betting section. Look at SBR, or Covers, or RX, or whatever else is out there and look at the content. It is swamped by morons, or picks/fake records, no real discussion. 2+2 is different because the haves vs have nots ratio is such where the haves have an actual fighting chance of not being completely dominated on a 100-1 ratio. There was a reason certain posters chose to post on 2+2 instead of other places. Think about it for a minute, it isn't by accident.

Sports betting isn't the same as poker (If you can win betting 10cents a game, you can win betting 100,000 a game) information is going to be a lot different and much harder to obtain than in poker. I can't change gears betting sports, I can't immediately feel the ramifications of a bad beat, etc.

2+2 can't have it both ways.

You just don't get it. None of the "haves" are not going to comb over posts just looking for places they can give their ricebowl away. I'd go donate $10,000 to charity and at least be able to write it off. I'd go work at a soup kitchen for an hour a day instead of reading this forum. There are 100's of selfless acts that wouldn't hurt you as much as posting in the manner you or anyone else would hope.

Telling someone they are an idiot IS a community service. If you had 2 unknowns yelling at each other over which thing is correct, as another unknown, you wouldn't know who is correct. At least when someone with a solid rep is arguing the unknown, others can safely assume who is going to be right much more often. And again, there is no discussion on which route you played the hand, or making solid arguments for raising/calling etc. Sports betting is black and white, which to it's roots limits discussion.

If someone can't search the wong thread and post in it the most basic of questions, they deserve whatever happens to them, even if they get discouraged and never post again.

So let me get this straight... They can disrespect every poster here, but blatantly putting in no effort looking for free information that has been provided expecting to be spoon fed the answer, but we can't be disrespectful to them by calling them a ****ing moron or whatever? RSigley said it earlier. Almost every question that has been asked has been answered at least 3x already. Where can I learn to start building a model? What sportsbook should I use? Where can I get NBA play by play data, where can I get push charts for college football, blah blah f'n blah.

If this is the stance that 2+2 wants to take, I would really suggest just shutting the entire place down because it will be of no use to anyone, except for the archives.
