So as you all know, Joey Chestnut is the man. The guy is a competitive eating legend. He once ate a rhino in an hour while drinking seven gallons of goat-milk slushy. His main rival and fellow legend is Takeru Kobayashi who is addicted to eating and has to take pills to relax his jawbone. He is also a raving homosexual.

I have been scouting the interwebs for some 'value' and I am looking at one name in particular. His name is Gravy Brown. He has racked up enough prize money to afford the gas for this year's trip and has some good form against
third-favourite Patrick Bertoletti. At 66-1 he is a great each way shout. Bet365 are doing a promotion that if any of the competitors die, all bets are refunded making this just about +ev.

I thought I'd give something back for all the tbab threads and wonderful arbing questions.

Chestnut revolutionized the sport and his western training methods are far superior to anyone else in the game. That and he has a natural frame for the sport, unlike the well-trained but undersized Kobayashi.

Only Kobayashi's natural love for weiners has even kept him in the running.

Nobody else at the table even matters, this is a dynasty on the level of Dan Gable's Iowa State teams.

I hope you don't know what you're talking about as that would worry me! If you don't it just shows you can string some words together and people think you do! Anyway, Kobayashi lost to a bear at eating but it was close and the bear later broke the record for most Hyenas in an hour..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgqbCq_sxmo, so the 7/4 could be value in this wonderful 140% market

I don't know who these h8ters are. But if you can't bet on a man named Gravy Brown. Who can you bet on?

Does it count if a competitor dies on the way to the contest?

Also notice how the wimminz, 105 lbs. Sonya Thomas, is only 50 to 1

I don't know but I'd like eighteen mortgages on Sonya Thomas not to win..so 1/50 or 1/200 with Bet£3.65's margin!

bump!

Joey Chestnut, just won his fourth Nathan's hot dog eating championship, downing 54 dogs and buns in ten minutes

Kobayashi, a superstar among eaters and a six time champion of the event, sat out this year's competition because Major League Eating's contract would prohibit him from eating in other contests not sanctioned by Major League Eating.

Major League Eating, contracts, amazing. Gravy Brown nowhere! LasFuentes your girl gets her pic in there..

I got low 3 digits down on this 2 years ago when Chestnut was rising.

Also, Sonya Thomas was in an article in Maxim (or something like it) a few years ago that I can't find. They put her against a linebacker in eating. I remember the back and forth in the article. It went something like:
LB: "I once ate 6 double whoppers in half an hour"
ST: "I am a manager at a burger king. I can eat 23 double whoppers in 8 minutes."

Bump to review past analyses (current stats here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan'...Eating_Contest).

Let's get the discussion rolling this year.

Any good models for this?

Well, as you can see, Kobayashi is not taking part this year.

Kobayashi hopes his upcoming Fourth of July will go off with far less drama. He remains locked in a dispute with Major League Eating, which administers the Nathan’s contest and many others, so he again can’t enter the Coney Island event.

Instead he will compete from afar, eating alongside a live satellite feed of the contest on the roof of 230 FIFTH, a Manhattan bar. He’ll eat the very same Nathan’s hot dogs and buns, starting and finishing in time with the real competitors.

Chestnut's 1/20 are just the wurst odds.

Juliet Lee at 66s? I'd rather bang'er.

My tip this year is regarding the number of hot dogs eaten. Joey recently visited China detailed below

http://lumdimsum.com/2011/06/24/the-...quers-beijing/

What the article does not tell you is that he contracted Subacute Enterotoxemia which is usually common is sheep and goats. The underground spread markets who have taken this informed money are laying a 54-56 spread which should tell you all you need to know.

Tip: Hotdogs eaten by the winner: Under 60 - 11/10.

Joey with a total of 58 hot dogs followed by a haemorrhage. People will attempt the Heimlich Manoeuvre but it will be in vain.

Gl all.

Yeah you gotta take the under 60.5 for Chestnut. His median score here is a very solid 59. However, without Kobayashi pressuring him weiner for weiner last year, we all saw the lack of effort and desire to stomp that field's ass in competitive eating or set any sort of record. He put up his 2nd lowest score ever since finishing 2nd to the Jap back in 2006.

Competitive eating might be the only sport in the world where the crowd looks as if they'd be better than the athletes. ESPN coverage is hilarious.

Last year he wasn't inspired because Kobayashi didn't compete. This year he has to deal with the fact that Kobayashi is eating at the bar 230 Fifth. That's even more motivation than Kobayashi standing right next to him because he doesn't know how well he is doing or if he's ahead. Chestnut says he can do 68 if the hot dogs are cooked right. It's important to Shea and the IFOCE that Chestnut beats Kobayashi. The hot dogs will be cooked right. Going with the over.
