so i have a DB of 3000 college football games. right now i program it so for each full game line i print out the median result for corresponding 1st quarter, mean result for corresponding 1st quarter, and sample size

help on where to go from here?

no need to compute median or mean results for quarters or halfs imo

by result do u mean MOV

for added accuracy, maybe window ur lines into overlapping totals as well, up to u. compare and contrast Pinny lines.

sayhey, well i found out what percent of total points in a game are scored in the first quarter. so i could just multiply the full game line by 25% or whatever to get the first q line but then i am not really using the DB.

subz, what is MOV? i read your post a few times but i can't really make sense of it could you explain a bit more please.

i don't know the best way of doing it, just trying to give u ideas.

MOV is margin of victory.
pinnacle is often helpful.
u may need to value the half points around spread or total in the game and derivate that u want.

im 99.9% sure the way they calculate the half point values is by using a db like unluckyboy claims to have. so he should be able to do that himself.

unluckyboy, my advice is to sit down for a day or two or three with your db and try every strategy you think of. try whatever it was you said in your last post and backtest it to see if it makes monies. if it doesnt work then try another strategy. i dont see why this is so complicated. your next post should be along the lines of "ty 2p2 for all the help. now i can cap xxxxxxx games, for real yo."

Wong's book is fairly old, 2001. Yao's book is 2007 I think. Some things have changed since Wong's book although that hardly makes it irrelevant (obviously).

you can probably get both on Amazon for like $15 each so I don't know why getting both should be a problem.

Google is my friend. Where I looked for Yao's copyright I couldn't tell for sure but that seemed probably right.

I actually thought SSB was older than 2001. I would have guessed 1997 or something.
