Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Hi everyone. Does anyone have any good handicapping websites that they recommend? Are any of them worth it? Does anyone recommend a program to help gather and decipher statistics?
My recent trip to the local OTB got me interested in possibly getting more into it.
Any and all info would be helpful! (sorry if this has been asked/answered before) this thread is pretty long and I skimmed as much as I could.

Most computer programs are rather expensive.
I would suggest getting a copy of the Daily Racing Forum, they will provide a few picks and explain why they like them. They also has a lot more info than most basic programs they sell at the track.
They will sell them at the OTB and they actually have them at gas stations near me.

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
With shackleford going out of today's race that is going to take some value away from the value on Jackson Bend.

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Some picks today...
Del Mar Race 9, $40 win #9 Smart Ellis(6-1 M/L)
Many who study the SoCal circuit know Richard Mandella serves notice for a big effort with a 7f drill 2 works from the race. I did some research at cal racing and the two back drill in question is the fastest 7f turf drill in for-friggin-ever. Hasn't posted his big fig yet so we play on the come and get our #.
Golden Gate Race 8, $20 double 5 with 7
There's an even money favorite in race 8 who I think is bad. Last 3 she was 3/2, 1-1, 1-1 with lone f pace advantages and lost every time. Two of those she should've won. The bsf last out is inflated as it was the only turf race on the day in 1:43 & 2 earning a 69, compare that to the 5 who turf debuted last out at 1:39 & 4, 3 & 3/5 seconds faster, but with a 61 fig. Back in the day Utley was lethal 2nd turf and 2nd w/tnr. Aug 26 drill serves notice. Graduated against SoCal maiden 50's, which is tougher than these. Beat that fav.
Race 9: The 7 is a likely horse who returns to his best game. He's 7/2 cuz his last three were dirt or turf or distance/turf bad tries. Synthetic main track sprinting is his game and he's likely to run back to his good races.
Happy Labor Day.

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
GGF Wed Pick 5(25k carryover)
With a $.50 base, it's worth taking a stab as there's a couple faves, methinks I can fade.
3rd: 2,3,7
4th: 3
5th: 3,4,5,8
6th: 6,7,8
7th: 3,5
$36

I have no experience with horses but I imagine they are extremely expensive and you probably shouldn't expect to turn a profit unless you buy a proven winner with some luck. IDK I think the horse game is probably great but you have to be loaded imo just to pay a trainers fee, transportation, and entries to races.
Also imagine spending 100k+ on a race horse that is elite and then having it break a leg or some freak accident where you will never be able to race the horse again. Probably unlikely but losing 100k due to a horse breaking a leg sounds terrible imo.
