Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Apparently I am way to stupid to google the starting time for the main race of the Japan Cup in Tokyo on sunday, because I can't find it. Can anyone help out? Thank you very much!

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
HOL Race 9
Matriarch G1 Stakes:
#1 3 Quiet Oasis... presents value at anything 8-1 or above, IMO. some OK works, looked great off the turf his first race off the layoff at SA last time out. Mike Smith aboard. Think he could be maturing at the right time, and maybe be the horse to beat.
I'll be keying the 3, and playing it strong to Win/Place if odds are good.

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
The Matriarch was a great race today. Another good one today was the Grade II All American at Golden Gate Fields - race 8. If you didn't catch them definitely check out the race replays. plus you get a jockey spill in the Matriarch!

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Is there anyone posting in here who does well? I just see kevroc posting mostly and he is down. At least he gives an honest assessment of results but have always wondered about Horse Racing. My friend likes going to the track but it seems like the juice in this arena is too much for anyone to really overcome longterm. Do people do it? I feel like there should be some correct bets or at least better bets. Win bets? Place bets? Show bets? Exactas?
Seems its somewhat situational. For example, a horse going off at 3/5 then it might make sense to play it to place rather then to win since the payouts are so close and you get an extra spot to cash. In the past if I went with him I'd normally just see where the late money goes and follow. Worked better then my old system of betting the favorite.

kazor,
only the mentally demented can play horses their whole life.

i don't bet the quarter horses but i do bet the 4 1/2f thoroughbreds at Los Alamitos, sometimes. those are pretty fun and go great with a few beers.

It was a quarter horse and AFIK the horse is fine. The gate actually opened normally, but the horse just broke towards right side and stood there after he hit the bars. It was truly bizzare.
