Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Going to the track this afternoon to see the best horse currently racing -- and she's a pacer! That's right See You at Peelers is racing at my home track, The Meadows, today and I can't wait.

Yes, they are only 10c bets. Boxing selections equals 24 bets, or $2.40. So that race paid $7.15.
I have had payouts as low as $2.50 and as high as $1700. The average payout for me this year is $100 on 10c supers.
I use different metrics to rank the horses and make my picks. I do so early in the day, avoiding looking at the ML or public money. Sometimes my picks are chalk and other times longshots.
I have been considering adding 50c tri boxes on top of the supers. I've hit a lot of top 3 selections that didn't payout for missing 4th. It would be an additional $12 on top of the $2.40 super box.

Well, at least I can say I was there when she got beat. This shows you how important a good driver is in harness racing. Johanson only drives See You at Peelers because of the relationship with the connections. He was probably the 4th or 5th best driver in the race today. He gave her a horrible trip and it cost her the race. On a 5/8 mile track you can't run a second quarter in 27 after a 26.1 first and expect to beat a top flight field. Those numbers are what you'd expect on a 1 mile track. I bet you won't see him in the bike any more for Peelers. It will be Sears from here on out.

i would recommend the tri boxes instead of supers with 4 horses.i wonder how much you would be up if they were tris?

I've kept records and could backtest this, but I don't think it's worth my time.
I'm not sure I would be up more from an ROI perspective, but I surely would be up more $$$. I would also have wagered 5x-10x more money, depending on the minimum tri bet allowed.
The super is a more attractive wager IMO because it can still pay off handsomely at a small handle track. If you look at pool totals sometimes the super is very close to the tri, despite being a much smaller bet.
It's high variance, especially on fields of 8+ runners. I know full well going in that I'll only cash 4-6% of all my wagers.

Re: HORSE RACING THREAD
Del Mar - Race 1
#3 My Bashert (5/2 ml)
Half-sister to the talented 2yo colt Bashert (from some years back) worked the fastest quarter-mile at the April Ocala sale (20.3), and has reportedly been looking sharp @ Del Mar lately as well. Trainer O'Neill does very well with debuting 2yo's, and this one appears quick. Should be tough.

Made the lead easily and appeared on her way to victory, but suddenly stopped cold in upper stretch. Might've been something physical.
