I've lost 10k before in a similar fashion...it sticks in your craw and I still think every now and again that I should hire some guys to beat the crap out of him, but those are just fantasies man. Some people are scumbags. Stick with legit, stand-up guys/companies and move on with your life (although it sounds like there's a tiny chance this could still be resolved).

As far as your particular situation, its easy to look at this situation in hindsight, kinda like analyzing a hand when you know the hole cards....but imo you totally screwed up here. I think the mediator route was the smart move, and probably should've been what you did first. I think he was in the right, You were about to hit and run, then to drop the bets like that were a slap in the face, you should have said no I am good for the week, ill bet next week. You also left for two weeks, if you were losing, he would have have to wait to collect, why couldnt you have waited two weeks before you got paid, then you threaten his family before you found out he was going to make you wait two weeks then pay you. And do not become a snitch. Just let it go and I think he will come around when you get back home.
