So here is how the story starts, i pay in a house game with about 20 reg player and met this guy that comes every now and then. He is well know by everyone there for thowing his money around and he runs some of the high roller games in town, he also takes crazy amounts of numbers.

So we were playing one day and we made a friendly bet of $50 on the UNC game. Game wasnt on till a few days later, I ended up winning, and got his number threw a friend and text him. He proceded to tell me that he pays out on every friday of every week and we will square up then. Then he asked me if i wanted to place anymore bets before then.

So then i decided id place some more bets well i went down -$500 and up to $700.00 and then i had to go out of town for 2 weeks and while i was gone i still made bets with him even tho two fridays passed we jsut had a runnig book. So two days before i came back into town i made 7 bets at $500 a pop and hit 6 out of 7. I which put me up to 2500 or so. I didnt wanna bet anymore and jsut wanted to keep my winnings.

He text me later that night and asked if i was placeing any bets for the NBA games that were going to start, i didnt wanna seem like it was a hit and run so i placed more bets for $50.00 each, he then texted me back and was like F*** you, your not gonna hit me for 6 games for 500 each and then drop your bets to 50.00

I text him back and said i was doing that because i wasnt sure if he was able to pay out the $2500.00, and he told me that i disrespected him by saying that. And he kept saying that he takes bets ten times the size as mine every day. And if i was gonna place anymore bets with him they have to be $500.00 or more, So i agreed to make 4 more bets at $500 each i got 3/4 and now i was up $3500.00

So then i text him casue the next day was friday and i wanted to squard up and he text me back and said he was out of town and he would text me in a few hours and let me know where to meet him. Well time goes by and he never text me. and never replys back to my text. Blows me off for the next two days.

I go to the poker game on Sat and was talking to one of the other players asking them if they knew where mike was (Bookie) and told them what was going on and that he owed me money and he was blowing me off. Well the dealer of the game was good friends with mike and told mike that i went to the game talking **** saying i was bosting how i hit him for 3500.00

I go another week trying to get ahole of him and he never answers me, so being the genious i am i use my mind and think of something to text him that would make him want to reply to me..... So i text him saying i know where his sister works and where his mothers works which i found out on the internt, and told him that i will find him. then told him that ill just report him to the irs for back taxes casue he has no job and drives around in a 80k lexis.

It work he texted me back and told me he was going to break my neck, and told me to go to the poker game on sat and he will have my money and i can take it out of his pocket. Didnt scare me so i went he never showed up. My text message i sent him seemed like a threat, which he would be doing to me if i wasnt paying up if i owed him moneny. A week goes by and i end up talking to the guy who runs the poker game to see if he can act as a mediator of the sistuation becasue he if friends of both of us.


He said he would do it, but nothing has happend, he says he talks to him but he is still pissed that i threated him. He said mike was going to pay me and the reason why he didnt text me back is becasue he wanted me to sweat the two weeks that we bet and didnt square up on the fridays. He tells me you cant talk to people about money when they are pissed. it been like 5 months now and nothing has happend. I am currently in Iraq and the guy that runs the game is trying to work every thing out with him and trying to get him to pay me. I have mikes facebook and can email him, but i dont know what to say. i havent tryed to talk or contact him in 5 months.

ANY Advice anyone?????

Put $3500 bad debt expense in your ledger and be glad you got off that cheap.

Why on earth would you bet with a lone bookie and not a proper betting shop/Betfair etc.?

been there before. it sucks but its a good lesson...people are scumbags. always settle up every possible chance. good luck, but you'll prob never see it.

You're prob never going ot see that money again. Just follow through on your threat and report him; that's all you can really do. :/

i can only imagine the look on his face when he's desperately trying to get you to bet more, only to receive a couple $50 bets back via text.

yea carma is a mother Fu**** and i havent talked or said anything about it in about 5 months to him except to the gun who is trying to help me out, i talk to him every now in then about it, but there is only so much i can do being in iraq and all...... but i do have a plan to get back at him, people rush to fast into revenge and they are automatically the first suspect, well on the other hand their is me, ill wait a year or two then strike, with my name never crossing their minds.... i either get my money or the plan begins

You have enough mutual friends/acquaintances you might be able to put the screws to him.

Continue to regularly remind him of the debt and that you expect to be paid. Offer him some type of payment plan. Don't threaten him or his family. But make it clear that you'll continue to warn everyone you both know that he is a deadbeat.

It probably won't work. It might be better to just write it off.

In the future, don't carry large credit balances with people you aren't sure if you can trust.

Ill take this in mind, im in iraq right now but when i do return from here i will be back at the game and im sure ill rin into him and i will prob be over a year since i seen him and ill be the first to call him out in frount of everyone

if you do actually talk to him reasonably and he legit cant pay, you could take over his book.

Threatening him was a mistake IMO.

I would put him on a payment plan, whether he likes it or not. And start breaking body parts if he's not meeting it.

Keep talking about his sister and mother, and following them to their workplace. I bet that always works.
